X-wing fighter

The X-wing, a fictional starfighter in the Star Wars universe, is the main Rebel Fighter. In A New Hope, the X-wing was the craft that Luke Skywalker used to destroy the Empire's first Death Star.

The craft is also used extensively in the X-wing computer game series. It was both reasonably manoeuverable and carried four laser cannons and photon torpedoes.

The X-wing pilots of Rogue Squadron, led by Wedge Antilles, a character from the films, are the subject of a series of books by Michael Stackpole. The titles in that series include Rogue Squadron, Wedge's Gamble, The Krytos Trap and The Bacta War. Coran Horn, one of Rogue Squadron's pilots, is the subject of another, longer book by Stackpole.

Another series of books, written by Aaron Allston, follows Wraith Squadron. These include Wraith Squadron, Iron Fist, Solo Command and Isrard's Revenge.
