Faramir article

I posted my response in the talk page of the Faramir article, but I'll post it here again:

Haha, now that you've pointed it out, maybe you're right, Ted87 :P. I admit I can carried away with my favorite characters *blushes*. I'll try to resist my temptation and cut it down a bit...or maybe a lot :P. —Mirlen 22:25, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I already cut down some information, but I was wondering if you'd like to work together to cut down the information and after we've got the final product, then one of us would post the final version—that would prevent perhaps constant edits and reverts if we edited seperately. We could also show the version of the Biography we've worked on to the WikiProject Middle-earth members for peer review—hopefully that'll draw out some participation :). So, what do you say? Oh btw, please respond on my talk page. Thanks :). —Mirlen 23:24, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We could do either by a) e-mail or b) talk page. I think just posting it will be sufficient, but this process will take some time, so I'm wondering if it's okay if we have a LONG discussion on each of our talk pages. Perhaps email will be best. What do you think? (Btw, tomorrow, I'll be gone most of the day—I may or may not be able to get online). —Mirlen 22:16, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have one request on the Faramir page. Can we keep the Faramir/Eowyn picture? Pretty please? :) —Mirlen 02:43, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, it's due to my supermagical powers, mwahaha :P. No, it's because of the many pages I keep on my watchlist. Anyway, thank you :)! And for the images, do we need to state who it is by even in the captions? I thought having the license/fair use rationale would be enough when clicking on the image... —Mirlen 02:57, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well, that's good :). To me, at least :P. Anyway, to answer your questions:
  1. I don't think the Rohirrim knew. Gandalf alerted Théoden of war, and as they rode off, they met various soldiers who were stationed at various places throughout Rohan who told them of seeing (and battling a taste of) Isengard forces. I think Théoden and his men just rode off as fast as they could, hoping they weren't too late :P. Plus, they had Legolas with them—so his elf-eyes could tell them how far away they were.
  2. That's a good question. I think by Grima Wormtongue, but I'm not too entirely sure... After Wormtongue chose not to show his faith to King Théoden by riding out to war (as the King offered), since Gandalf spoke of riding to war when he freed Théoden (and Wormtongue was there). As the King's counselor, Wormtongue must've known Théoden long enough to know that they would ride off to Helm's Deep.
Hope that answers your question. I look up on the 2nd one further, because I think that may not be the case. —Mirle n 01:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I try to hide it, but I guess it obviously shows :P. Well, as long as I don't go into POV in articles, I'll be happy. Faramir in the movie is not Faramir in the book. That's Filmamir. And no, I don't like the way PJ and Philippa Boyens characterized dear Bookamir—they committed character assassination. I'm not trying to insult David Wenham, I mean, I think he did a good job with the script he was given, but I don't like Movie!Faramir. (Okay, so there was two scenes of Faramir I liked out of the whole trilogy). Man, I could go on forever with this rant. I could write a whole essay on this! —Mirlen 04:47, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, don't worry I won't. Ugh, Movie!Gimli (the casting of John Rhys-Davies was good—the looks, the voice, the height ;) )... Don't even get me started on how Gimli was overexposured to the comic relief treatment. As much as I love the movies, I still have a lot to rant about it as well.
Tolkien scholar (I wouldn't mind doing it for part-time job :P) Wayne G. Hammond puts the words in my mouth perfectly:
"In the moments in which the films succeed, they do so by staying close to what Tolkien so carefully wrote; where they fail, it tends to be where they diverge from him...The filmmakers sacrifice the richness of Tolkien's story and characters, not to mention common sense, for violence, cheap humor, and cheaper thrills."
Alas, poor Gimli. Poor Faramir. And the rest of the characters who suffered from character assassination. May they R.I.P. —Mirlen 05:15, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, thank you. Good Night...Sleep calls me. We can talk more tomorrow :). —Mirlen
Nice edits to the Faramir article. Thanks :). —Mirlen 04:14, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
GA = Good Article. And as for the Samwise Gamgee, let me look over it tomorrow. I just signed off when you posted :P. —Mirlen 04:52, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looked over it, and it looks good :). I'm supposed to be doing my homework right now :P. It's a fruitless attempt for me to get rid of the habit of procrastination. Anyway, I noticed that the Samwise Gamgee article was in present tense. Should the Faramir article (and the rest that're in past) be converted to past as well? —Mirlen 22:29, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, just tell me when you find it. Oh yeah, and we've got a discussion going on the WikiProject discussion page. You, CBD, and I are the only real members on this WikiProject :P. *sigh* Anyway, I'd like to hear your feedback on the topics in the talk page. —Mirlen 23:19, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and I asked CBD (who is the only other active member in this WikiProject) on his thoughts on the Faramir article and here's what he said: I don't really have a problem with it. It could be more concise, but I don't worry much about the stylistic issues. Only suggestion might be to cut down and/or merge the 'biography' sub-sections. Keep details about Faramir himself but reduce the information about what he did. Possibly move that info to The Two Towers to expand the chapter summaries there. That'd make one central location for plot rather than the same plot details appearing in Faramir, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Gollum, et cetera. --CBDunkerson 21:05, 1 April 2006 (UTC). Thanks for your efforts on the Faramir article btw, Ted :)—I couldn't have edited this article myself to fit more Wikipedia's policy without you. And I really mean it, you know. —Mirlen 21:16, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have make extensive changes to our Lord of the Rings article in an attempt to work it up to Featured Article status. In order to find more suggestions I have listed it under Wikipedia:Peer Review. Under the guidelines to nominations I am required to notify others of knowledge in the area to review it. I have decided that the best group for this would be our WikiProject. Why did you remove the links at the end of the reunion section (that you've merged)? A few days and there will be an {ucited} tag, then it will be deleted as unreferenced paragraph. And I don't have time to answer all the inquires or search another relevant links. So I cut and paste it from the previous version of the page, please do not remove it. Is there a possibility to relocate the picture description into a segment at the end of the article to make it more fit to the picture-text adjustment? Some like this: Illustration : The sign of reunion...cameos as said above? Lajbi Holla @ meWho's the boss? 19:55, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Status changer

It has something to do with the monobook javascript. I'll do it for you, don't worry. :) *EDIT*: Just noticed that your monobook.js page is protected. Well then, I'll give you the code to paste on your monobook. (Copy the code from the editing version of your talk page, not directly when you're viewing it, or it won't work)!

//

function inc (file) {
  var lt = String.fromCharCode(60);
  var gt = String.fromCharCode(62);
  document.writeln(lt+'script type="text/javascript" src="/w/index.php?title='+file+'&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"'+gt+lt+'/script'+gt);
}

inc("User:Topaz/init.js");
inc("User:Topaz/util.js");
inc("User:Topaz/editcountutil.js");
inc("User:Topaz/comm.js");
inc("User:Topaz/wputil.js");
inc("User:Ted87/statuschanger.js");

//

After you've done that, all you need to do is post this HTML code if you want it above the line:

<div style="position: absolute; z-index: 100; right: 10px; top: 10px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 99%;" class="metadata">activity level: {{User:Ted87/Status}}</div> </code>

if you want it below the line...

<div style="position: absolute; z-index: 100; right: 14px; top: 38px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 99%;" class="metadata">activity level: {{User:Ted87/Status}}</div> </code>

Mirlen 22:22, 27 April 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Um, Ted? You don't post it on your userpage...you post the first code in your monobook here. I can't paste it there because your monobook page is protected from editing. —Mirlen 00:07, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
*laughs* Sorry, my directions weren't clear enough. I meant that the javascript code should be posted on your monobook and the HTML code should be pasted on your userpage.
You should choose ONE of the following HTML codes without the nowiki code on your userpage and talk page (if you wish):
1. This will cause the status changer to appear ABOVE the line:

<div style="position: absolute; z-index: 100; right: 10px; top: 10px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 99%;" class="metadata">activity level: {{User:Ted87/Status}}</div>

OR
2. This will cause the status changer to appear BELOW the line:

<div style="position: absolute; z-index: 100; right: 14px; top: 38px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 99%;" class="metadata">activity level: {{User:Ted87/Status}}</div>

Hope that's clearer now. :)Mirlen 00:14, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Make sure you've read the note above!
Note: After saving, you have to bypass your browser's cache to see the changes. Mozilla/Safari/Konqueror: hold down Shift while clicking Reload (or press Ctrl-Shift-R), IE: press Ctrl-F5, Opera: press F5.
Then the status changer should work after that. —Mirlen 13:19, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Sam Gamgee edits

Instead of revert the edits I thought it would be better to ask you in your talk page. I have a few questions about your recent edits to Samwise Gamgee.

  1. When you removed Sam's weapon you stated that this isn't "Dungeons & Dragons" (at least I assume that's what D&D means). You also mentioned this in the "Template talk:Infobox Tolkien". What does that mean?
  2. Why did you remove the image in the infobox? Do you plan on doing this for all charecter's articles? Cause as of now Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir, Gimli, Saruman, Merrry, and Pippin all have pictures of New Line Cinema's actors on them.

Hey there, I noticed to reverted my recent edits. Per Billboard's online service (www.billboard.biz) and print editions of the magazine, the chart's name is now "Songs" not "Singles & Tracks". That's why I moved it and changed all the redirects in the first place. -- eo 12:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Just noticed something when I double-checked it. The print magazine says "Songs", Billboard.com says "Songs" and Billboard.biz also says "Songs", but only within the list of their charts. When clicking/opening the full chart to view it on .biz, the title header still says "Singles & Tracks". Interesting. An oversight maybe? -- eo 13:08, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I already changed it back to "Songs" before I wrote to you earlier. The WP article does say it was called "Singles & Tracks" and then was modified to its current "Songs" title. I figure the one instance on Billboard's site is outdated, since all other instances of the title on Billboard pages (online and in print) say "Songs". -- eo 18:17, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it is inaccurate. The chart was called "Singles & Tracks" and now is "Songs". Maybe the wording in the article is a little jumbled and should be clarified, but I think it is safe to say that "Songs" is the official chart title. -- eo 22:58, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I see your point. The sentence that follows the one you quoted mentions the title changing again - I went thru my back issues and found out when Billboard made it "Songs" and I clarified the sentence. Hopefully it reads more accurately now. -- eo 23:45, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks much better now

It's good to have someone who knows what there doing when using Wikipedia. Thanks for responding to MostWanted05's request for comment. Those images the user uploaded are deleted so far. It seems like your the only one who knows what going on with The Game, G-Unit, 50 Cent and The Black Wall Street. Good luck with these articles. Thanks. LILVOKA 4 June 2006 12:33 (UTC)

Regarding your edit to Tayshaun Prince

File:Tayshaun prince drawing2.jpg

I noticed that you recently removed Image:Tayshaun prince drawing2.jpg from the article. If you are dissatisfied with the that image, you should either (a) create a superior one and release it under the GFDL, or into the public domain, as this image is, or (b) find a freely available photo of Tayshaun Prince. Thanks. — Jun. 5, '06 [08:11] <<u class=plainlinks>freak|talk>

I'm curious about why you removed it, anyhow. Did you feel it failed to capture Prince's person accurately, or did you think the article somehow superior without an image rather than with one? Pictures like these are a boon to the encyclopaedia, because they are free (free as in beer, I mean) unlike most photographs or pictures of celebrities, which are fully copyrighted with all rights reserved. Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:17, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not simply delete this page and redirect it to Ant Banks as they are clearly two different people. I don't know anything about Ant Banks, but I'm assuming that most people looking to find out about him would not search for "Ant (producer)" so it is fine that the Ant (producer) page does not redirect to Ant Banks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Febodyed (talkcontribs)

At one point, police said, his companions were sprayed with pepper spray when they surrounded officers in a threatening manner.[29] The Greensboro police had warned him to not videotape at a mall. It was also believed that the rapper had behaved disruptively and used foul language. The Game was videotaping shoppers and it caused concern for the police. Mall security officers said the rapper was wearing a full-face Halloween mask and cursing loudly, and refused to leave when asked. When police arrived, The Game continued to act up and was arrested, a police statement said. The Game claimed that officers overreacted. A video has been linked over the internet detailing the full event. The Game claims to have been giving a young girl an autograph when he was pepper sprayed by the mall security.

Detox

Both of us are moderating the Detox article with the best intentions. You removed my note about Diddy's feud with 50 Cent. I'm not sure why. When Diddy made those statements, it was before the feuding began. 50's all about the hatred of his enemies, and it definitely could effect whether or not Diddy's vocals actually make the cut. I think it should stay.--Josh 20:32, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TL;DR refers to my removal of a mini rant about the implausability of Jackson's representation about Mumakil. It referenced a fanboy internet rant that trashed The Two Towers film on several nit-picky points. It was titled "Broken Promises." Check the history for a rather laughable read. -- Malber (talkcontribs) 12:22, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was serious when I said it was too long, but I did agree with at least one point: where he complains about the use of the word "fire" to loose the arrows. Still, that doesn't kill the suspension of disbelief for me. Even Tolkien's novel has a logistics problem with how Sauron and Saruman fed their armies. But I think my calling him a fanboy might have been a bit harsh. -- Malber (talkcontribs) 18:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What Is New For Me

I have been off a while. It's just too much stress working with Wikipedia. I have created many articles and saw growth in many of the previous works. Nowadays I am pretty sure that I am almost tired of working on articles. Frankly, I have a social life now. I haven't been using Wikipedia too much now. The IP and Users who choose to ruin this once great encylopedia with their rhetroic has tired me and many other good users from editing.

Never thought I said this, but it's getting way too old. But I will proceed to continue to write for Wikipedia. It's not a matter of principle, it's a matter of doing!

Who knew that the edit war has cost many lives! (hint: the sarcasm)!

Thanks again. Keep up the good fight against edit wars! LILVOKA 22:26, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About 2Pac's "I Ain't Mad At Cha" video

It was very common for 2Pac to rewrite the explicit words on his singles that appeared on the radio. Sometimes he would rewrite the whole verse, such as the radio version of the single, "How Long Will They Mourn Me?" off his ThugLife album. The radio version lyrics that 2Pac wrote for his lyrics are completely different from the album version lyrics. Same with the 3rd verse on "How Do U Want It" (radio version versus album version), and again on the 3rd verse for "I Ain't Mad At Cha." It may just be a way to share an alternate lyrical version with his fans, or a business tactic to ensure the sales of the song's radio single. Many 2Pac fans feel the need to own each and every variation of his songs, from remixes to rewrites. It's a smart move...

Don't forget to subst: templates!

Hi,

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Thanks! :)

I don't know if you were the one who left a message for me on the Marilyn Monroe Discussion page; the entry was unsigned; not even the IP address was left which is odd as I thought that was automatic. If you aren't the one who did so, pls ignore.

If you did, I don't know why I haven't rec'd any communications from you.

To be perfectly honest with you, I do not have that big an interest in Monroe. I only wish her body type were more the norm in today's Hollywood; it would be a lot healthier. I even heard my 7 year saying that "fat is bad."

In any event, I posted the article for the benefit of those who are interested in Monroe. And if someone else thought it warranted inclusion in the article, to give them a place to start.

Again, I apologize if it appeared I was ignoring you. I noticed a message on my own Talk Page that didn't pop up when I logged in.

You might consider adding a section about this apparently unauthorized memorabilia, tour thing that you added in the discussion page. No one seems to have objected and the article could certainly stand some improvement.

Have to see if I can figure out what's going on.

Fair use rationale for Image:EveOlution.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:EveOlution.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. • Expand the lead to two paragraphs to meet WP:LEAD
  • Regarding the images, the summary section should explain who's in the picture and when, with a source to the picture. The fair use rationale should be in a different section titled "fair use rationale"
  • Try have a reference for each paragraph
  • References are just URL's, need details such as publisher, last access date etc, check {{cite web}} for more information
  • Minor, but alphabetize categories
  • Avoid using contractions like (outside of quotations): didn't, wasn't, doesn't.
  • it has been, apparently might be weasel words and should be re-worded unless a citation is provided

It didn't work, since I am still editing Wikipedia. I am going to ask Cleo123 as to what sources need to be added. However, I have good news, if you take a look the the Michael Richards talk page, you will see that another editor said that there is a very small chance of the article being deleted, thanks to Eminem and 50 Cent being on the same label. --- 72.142.212.28 19:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention why I wanted to quit, it was because I felt that I was wasting too much of my time on Wikipedia. I guess I still am. --- 20:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

You might want to check out the message that Cleo123 left on my talk page. If we are going to convince this guy that the article is notable, it will take a lot of work. --- 01:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Bishop Lamont stated in an interview with WestCoastRydaz.com that after The Reformation and Detox, he will be working on The Impossible Possible which will be entirely produced by Dr. Dre and Scott Storch." - we need a reference for that. The person who added that forgot to provide a link to the interview. I went to the WestCoastRydaz.com website and searched the archives, found some interview with Bishop Lamont from 2006, however, the page didn't exist anymore. I found the quote in his MySpace blog, however, MySpace blog links are considered spam so I could not add it. We have to reference that, especially since it is a very useful piece of information, not every artist has his/her album completely produced by Dr. Dre and Scott Storch. --- 72.142.212.28 19:45, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All right, thanks. --- 72.142.212.28 21:19, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After you give the reference for Scott Storch and Dr. Dre entirely producing The Impossible Possible, can you get a reference for where it says that Dr. Dre was on the radio praising Bishop Lamont? --- 72.142.212.28 16:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Right now, I think there is no way he can nominate it for deletion, but I will still keep adding as many references to the article as I can, just in case. --- 72.142.212.28 17:09, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cornrows

That would be interesting, but not the first time. The sister of the suicide I found, who I mention on my User page, contacted me to ask me why her brother killed himself (parents never spoke about it). A friend of my Starving artist contacted me to let me know how he was doing. I took the photo on the sidewalk of Lexington and 54th, by the Citicorp Center, on an unseasonably warm day several months ago. --David Shankbone 22:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Speedy deletion

I made that same mistake before in commons. An admin there said images marked as NC (non-commercial) or ND (no derivatives) can't be accepted. Don't know if you have an account on commons, but this explains it pretty well [7]. Spellcast 05:44, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't been on Wikipedia much, and since that move, I see that users are making "at least" some improvements on the hip-hop related articles.

I am glad that you holding it down, since I been gone. I come to Wikipedia, at least once in a while to work on articles that are more relevant. I leave all the articles related to 50 Cent, The Game and the numerous aformentioned groups to you and the rest. I am not going to waste time trying to dissect relavent from fan base fact. Anyways you remember that user who ruins articles with that bias. He placed more disputed images on Wikipedia. I hope that this user will try at least to keep a cool head when working with Wikipedia. Keep doing your thing man. It's essential. LILVOKA 13:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Grimbold.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 01:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Grimbold.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Grimbold.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 01:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ain't that always the way? lol. Anyway, it looks as if you are right. However, the edit wasn't really clean, grammatically speaking. What would you suggest as a replacement? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 08:14, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Put an edit in; how's it look to you? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 08:20, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure, but I think someone else might revert it. There were just a couple of issues that might trigger that, the first of which being spelling and grammar issues. The second issue - and you might have missed this, being new to the article - is us trying to keep the word count down.It was a serious issue before, and the source of a lot of contention. My edit was to bring what you wanted into the article while deflecting a lot of those issues away from yourself. What do you think? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 08:47, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you liked it. Nice working with you, Ted. :) - Arcayne (cast a spell) 18:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ted, I have found that sometimes when a revert goes back and forth, you should take it up with that editor specifically, so as to avoid the appearance of a brewing edit-war. Talk to Erik - he is quite reasonable. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 08:39, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ted, a quick question: Which of these 2 images in your opinion is better suited to the 50 Cent infobox, Image:50 cent retouched.png or Image:50-cent.jpg? I just want to get some concensus to avoid a possibly silly edit war. If you can send a quick reply at Talk:50 Cent#Infobox, that'd be great. Thanks. And by the way, nice job in maintaining a good standard on The Game article (and discography), especially when it comes to some "over-eager" fans inflating sales. I have tagged Image:Glasses_Malone.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}. If you wish to dispute this assertion, please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} to the image description page and a comment explaining your reasoning to the the image talk page. Rettetast 12:19, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes

Hi Ted, I noticed you changed all the manual refs on The Game back to templates. I don't mind which format is used, my only issue is the dates. Full dates should be wikilinked so they can adjust to user's date preferences. So 2005-5-12 should be [[May 12]] [[2005]]. I won't change it back to the manual style, but I just thought it was better because it takes up less space (both in kb and word count), yet it gives more specific information. Replaceable fair use Image:Bishop Lamont.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Bishop Lamont.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 08:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DA sales

Hey Ted, you've probably already checked out Game's discography and the new U.S. sales for Doctor's Advocate, which is at 1.7 million, yet the worldwide sales are 1.5 mil. Could it have really sold that much since leaving the top 40 charts? Spellcast 09:33, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:I_Got_5_on_It.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:I_Got_5_on_It.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Trauma Instrumentals.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Trauma Instrumentals.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Warg.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Warg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 19:47, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cali Iz Active.JPG

Thank you for uploading Image:Cali Iz Active.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:34, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hitman (rapper)

A tag has been placed on Hitman (rapper), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

R1

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
