Although 100 years old, being introduced by Otto Bock in 1905, the 9.3x62 Mauser still is one of the best 'All-around cartridges" when hunting the larger species of animals in Africa, Europe, or North America. At 2400 feet/seconds, its 286 grain standard loading is felt by many to be the optimal balance of recoil and power for effective use up to about 250 yards, and if you shoot beyond that range, perhaps you shouldn't shoot at all.
