GENERAL H.İBRAHİM FIRTINA WAS BORN ON 1 JANUARY 1941 IN ORDU. HE COMPLETED PRIMARY SCHOOL IN 1953 AND SECONDARY SCHOOL IN 1956 IN ORDU AND GRADUATED FROM ORDU HIGH SCHOOL IN 1960 SUBSEQUENTLY THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY WITH THE RANK OF THIRD LIEUTENANT ON 30 AUGUST 1962.
GENERAL FIRTINA COMPLETED HIS PILOT TRAINING ON 10 JUNE 1964 AND WAS ASSIGNED TO THE 143RD SQUADRON, 5TH MAIN JET BASE COMMAND AS A FIGHTER INTERCEPTOR PILOT.
GENERAL FIRTINA GRADUATED FROM THE AIR WAR COLLEGE IN 1972 AND WAS ASSIGNED AS THE TACTICAL FIGHTER PILOT TO THE 192ND SQUADRON, 9TH MAIN JET BASE COMMAND. HE ASSUMED DUTY AS AN INSTRUCTOR OFFICER AT THE SAME SQUADRON BETWEEN 1974-1975.
HE ASSUMED THE FOLLOWING DUTIES RESPECTIVELY; LECTURER AT THE AIR WAR COLLEGE, COMMANDER OF THE 184TH SQUADRON, 8TH MAIN JET BASE COMMAND, MILITARY ATTACHÉ IN BONN/GERMANY, CHIEF OF OCCUPATIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES BRANCH, TRAINING DEPARTMENT, TAFC, OPERATIONS COMMANDER AT THE 4TH MAIN JET BASE COMMAND AND HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF A BRIGADIER GENERAL ON 30 AUGUST 1989 AND ASSUMED THE DUTY AS THE COMMANDER OF THE 4TH MAIN JET BASE.
UPON ASSUMING DUTY AS THE TURKISH ARMED FORCES ATTACHÉ IN WASHINGTON IN 1991; HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF A MAJOR GENERAL ON 30 AUGUST 1993 AND MAINTAINED HIS DUTY AS THE CHIEF OF LOGISTICS, TAFC AND HE WAS ASSIGNED AS THE DEPUTY COMMANDER AT THE 1ST TACTICAL AIR FORCE COMMAND IN 1996 AND THEN WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL ON 30 AUGUST 1997.
GENERAL H.İBRAHİM FIRTINA WAS ASSIGNED AS THE DEPUTY COMMANDER OF WAR COLLEGES IN 1997, COMMANDER AT THE 1ST TACTICAL AIR FORCE COMMAND AND NATO SOUTHERN REGION 6TH COMBINED AIR OPERATIONS CENTER IN 1999 AND WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF GENERAL ON 30 AUGUST 2001 AND ASSUMED DUTY AS THE COMMANDER OF THE WAR COLLEGES AND HE WAS CURRENTLY ASSIGNED AS THE COMMANDER OF THE TURKISH AIR FORCE AS OF 27 AUGUST 2003.
GENERAL H. İBRAHİM FIRTINA IS MARRIED TO MELAHAT FIRTINA AND THEY HAVE TWO CHILDREN.
