Sir Lamiel, or Sir Lamiel of Cardiff is a Knight of the Round Table who appears in Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur. Very little is known about Sir Lamiel, though his name survives on a preserved British steam locomotive, a member of the LSWR N15 class, also known as the 'King Arthur' class.

Sir Lamiel in English literature

The book Le Morte d'Arthur provides the only reference to Sir Lamiel, and Malory describes "Sir Lamiel of Cardiff that was a great lover".[1]

Sir Lamiel in British railway history

An N15 'King Arthur' class steam locomotive number 30777 Sir Lamiel is named after this character, and has been preserved. It is the only survivor of a class of 74 locomotives, all bearing names of various characters found in Malory's book.
