Sonair is a subsidiary of Sonangol Group, which is the National Petroleum Company of Angola.

The company is the first to provide direct transportation of passengers and cargo between Angola and the United States. The airline provides three times weekly service from Houston to Luanda on a specially equipped MD-11, operated in a wet lease arrangement with Global Aero Logistic's certificated World Airways, with 12 super first class seats, 78 Business class seats, and 23 super coach seats.
