Meenachil river is the only river that flows through the heart of the Kottayam district of Kerala state, India. Even if the river originates in the Idukki District of kerala, the river is considered to be the river of kottayam. The river has two arms, namely thekkoy river and punniyar the latter having its origin at Kurushumala (the cross mount) at wagamon.
