The 1989 Cleveland Indians season was their 89th season in the American League. For the 8th consecutive season, the Indians had a losing record. The Indians had a least 70 wins for the 2nd consecutive season.

Offseason

  • December 3, 1988: Jesse Orosco signed as a Free Agent with the Cleveland Indians.
  • March 25, 1989: Felix Fermin was sent by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Cleveland Indians to complete an earlier deal made on November 28, 1988. The Pittsburgh Pirates sent a player to be named later and Denny Gonzalez to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later. The Cleveland Indians sent Jay Bell (March 25, 1989) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade. The Pittsburgh Pirates sent Felix Fermin (March 25, 1989) to the Cleveland Indians to complete the trade. [1]
