Calgary-Egmont
Calgary Egmont is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Canada.
Calgary Egmont was created in 1971 out of most of the old Calgary South riding.
The riding covers central southeast Calgary, in the older neighborhoods of Riverbend, Acadia, Fairview, Willowpark, Mapleridge and Ramsay, Kingsland and Manchester The riding includes a large swath of industrial land including the Highfield Industrial area. Bonnybrook and the Sewage Treatment Plant. The neighborhoods in the north part of the riding are blue collar working class, while the south contains more upscale neighborhoods.
The Progressive Conservatives have had three MLA's since its creation in 1971 and have had its only strong challenge in 1971 coming from Pat O'Byrne of the Social Credit party. No by-elections have taken place. The Progressive Conservatives have never had less then 50% of the popular vote in this riding.
Calgary Egmont is considered one of the most conservative ridings especially in the south part of the riding which tends to anchor the strong wins, while the north tends to vote every which way. The right wing Alberta Alliance pulled out 15%, their best showing in all of Calgary.

Student Vote 2004
On November 19th 2004 a Student Vote was conducted at participating Alberta schools of all types, to parralel the 2004 Election results and to educate students about the electoral process. The vote was conducted in 80 of the 83 ridings.
