The Glenny Drive Apartments were a Buffalo Public Housing Project built in the 1950's during the Public Housing fad of the 50's and early 60's and abandoned in the early 1980's. Currently, it is Buffalo's only abandoned public housing development. Located next to the I-90 Expressway, the six 7-story buildings, complete with smashed windows and excessive overgrowth, are quite an ugly sight today. Although high crime common to hi-rise public housing projects may have played a part in the project's demise, it was mainly because of a deal to buy the land the buildings sat on fell through.
