Heather Hunter

I am so glad you cut this sentence from the Heather Hunter article: "and Wyclef Jean (unknown track for Heather's debut album that didn't make the final release)." Because this was totally sketchy. Don't you think if you had Wyclef Jean in the studio, you'd put that track out? There is still a lot of baloney in this article. K72ndst (talk) 04:23, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes probably so.  :-) If there is anything else that sticks out like baloney, will you please let me know?

If you do not mind my asking, do you know or are you related to the persons depicted in this photograph? Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 22:15, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Busted! That's me. Why do you ask? jk (talk) 23:27, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed with tables

{{helpme}}

Hello I recently removed a number of the "uncited" pie incidents from List of people who have been pied and noticed that the tables are a wreck. There is an extra column on the right hand side which is exposed, and mid-way through there are a bunch of strike marks too. Thankfully this isn't a result of changes that I made, but I'd still like to see the page fixed. Is anyone a guru with wiki tables who would be willing to lend a hand? Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 23:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. x42bn6 Talk Mess 23:35, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed with another site notice

{{helpme}}

Hello again can someone please help me with removing the "Call for Participation" notices from Wikimania? I thought I had my monobook.css file updated enough, but apparently not. Maybe this is a browser security problem, but even though I hide the message it keeps reappearing. If there is a CSS hack to get rid of this I'd be very grateful with the correct key to remove it. Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 18:48, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am intentionally not removing the helpme (put that in bold so it gets noticed - usually people see a reply and remove the box without reading, anyway) because this isn't a real response, but you may want to ask at the tech village pump (again, I know you went through this last time), as CSS can be quite tricky sometimes, as you've undoubtedly noticed. You'll get a much higher chance of someone knowing what to do there. I'm actually surprised nobody has mentioned it yet.
What I can suggest is making sure that your browser is retaining "cookies" when you close it. I'm not getting this problem, even though I clear out just about everything when I close Firefox, and I think it's because I'm holding on to the cookie that says "get rid of the perpetually annoying banner." In Firefox, you can check this in Tools -> Options... -> Privacy -> Private Data Settings... As for IE, I don't have the most recent version, so I really can't say. If you're on Safari, then I'm quite lost. But that should work, if you can find the right button to push. Hope that helps...? Hersfold (t/a/c) 19:17, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Try this code:

.mw-dismissable-notice {display:none}

I haven't tested it, but I think it's the relevant CSS. --ais523 19:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes it does, and actually the # is right; I wrote the wrong character by mistake. (The . means 'class', and the # means 'id'.) --ais523 21:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry guys, I'm still getting this annoying banner. The resolution of my display is very small, and I'd like to get this valuable real-estate back! Take a look at my monobook.css and let me know what I'm doing wrong. (When I try to hide the "Call for Participation" notice it just pops right back up again). Can someone please help??? Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 23:13, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably something you have tried already but might it be an issue with cookies and your browser not accepting them from the en.wiki site? BigHairRef | Talk 14:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm about give up on this. Now I get a banner that says this:

"The next Philly Wikipedia Meetup will be held Saturday April 5th. You're invited!"

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can this be turned off. This is so annoying. Is there anyone I can talk to???  :-( (Note: If you are a knowledgeable Wiki administrator, please feel free to modify my css page to turn all these damn things off once and for all.) Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 22:56, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just added something to your monobook in the hopes it would help; unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you've got the code that should be stopping this. I'd recommend asking at the tech village pump for stuff like this in the future - the helpme patrollers don't generally know CSS classes, and I can't find the relevant class name in Mediawiki:Common.css or Mediawiki:Monobook.css. Sorry. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:42, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Scholarship applications for Wikimania 2008 are now open"

Is there a trick permanently to disable this site notice as well? Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 20:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Try #siteNotice {display:none;} in your monobook.css file. Stwalkerstertalk ] 21:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Malplaced disambiguation pages

Please don't remove {{db-movedab}} from redirect pages. The template is there for a reason -- as it says in the message (which I hope you took a moment to read), the page that the redirect points to is a malplaced disambiguation page and needs to be moved to conform to Wikipedia naming conventions. Thank you. --Russ (talk) 17:45, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realize that it was "malplaced" are you sure there is a consensus for this change? If so can you please direct me to such a discussion I would like to read it. I apologize for any confusion. Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 17:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Carolla and pies?

You've edited both Adam Carolla and List of people who have been pied‎, and I'm guessing you got your username from Stryker's tail, which makes you my new best friend. -- Scarpy (talk) 22:45, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:melodeclamation

Sure thing. I’m actually now going to try move the page to a more common name like “melodic declamation.” More sources can then be found perhaps. --S.dedalus (talk)
