Age of Ruin
Biography
Age of Ruin was conceived as a band that would tie together the melodic elements of Scandinavian metal with the brutality of American metalcore. By 2003, after playing countless local shows, Age of Ruin was considered a torchbearer for the Washington DC metal and hardcore scenes. Unlike many of their metalcore brethren, Age of Ruin never eschewed their hardcore mentality. Blending furious melodic metal and mosh with driving rock found the band making the most brutal music to be embraced by metal and hardcore kids across the scene. After LP and EP releases on Tribunal Records, Age of Ruin released their most defining record to date, "The Tides of Tragedy" via Eulogy Records (Alveran Records in Europe) in the spring of 2004. The band drew huge crowds across the US on the Van's Warped Tour 2004 [1], and the hype continued to build. Subsequent tours with bands such as Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour, The Bled, Sworn Enemy, Good Clean Fun and Anterrabae continued to grow an already strong following. In Winter 2006, a new era for The Ruin was ushered in. Age of Ruin kicked off the year with their first European tour, a 25 day tour crossing 12 countries. Sharing the stage with other mainstream acts such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Bleeding Through, and Most Precious Blood [2] further cemented their place in the top tier of metalcore. At the end of 2006, The Ruin took time off from touring in order to begin work on their anticipated follow-up to The Tides of Tragedy, Rise of the Caliphate[2]

Much speculation has been made of whether The Ruin is really coming out with a new CD, as they it has been a couple years since they started working on the new material. In response to this, in March of 2008, The Ruin leaked an unmixed copy of one of their new songs on their OFFICIAL myspace page, titled "Burn This City".
