This is an old revision of this page, as edited by DreamGuy (talk | contribs) at 07:02, 15 August 2005 (restore... it's not "wholesale blanking of text" it's removiung of trivial details that amount to spam, basically for a nonnotable site). The Encyclopædia Dramatica is a MediaWiki-based website about memes, hyperboles of small conflicts (referred to as "drama") and other happenings on the Internet. Originally, most of the articles were parodies of netspeak and aspects of the LiveJournal community.

The website has since grown to more than 1,500 articles of satire and humor on a range of topics, most tangentially related to the internet. Many ED articles have ironic, sarcastic, profane and black-humor tendencies.

Encyclopædia Dramatica was launched on December 9, 2004, by Wikipedia user Sherrod DeGrippo [1] from Las Vegas, nicknamed Girlvinyl, as a reaction to Internet memes and web phenomena being excluded from Wikipedia.
