Colegio Ponceño

Colegio Ponceño is a private pk-12 preparatory school located in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The school was founded in 1926 as Colegio Ponceño de Varones, a boys-only school. It was originally owned and directed by the Marianist Brothers until 1969, when the Piarist Fathers (Padres Escolapios) took over its administration. The school's name was changed to "Colegio Ponceno" in 1973 upon becoming a coed school.

The school is accredited by the Puerto Rico Department of Education and by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It is a permanent member of the College Board, serving as test center for the ATP of the College Board. It was recognized in 1991 & 1992 as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.

Since its establishment, the school has upheld high pedagogical standards and excelled in preparing students for higher education, both in Puerto Rico and the U.S.A. In every graduating senior class, "El Colegio" has consistenly produced countless students who have have go on to become successful professionals in the areas of medicine, law, engineering, and business. Among its alumni are numerous outstanding civic and political leaders in the Puerto Rican history.
