The Ottawa Rapidz are a professional baseball team based in Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada. The Rapidz are a member of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball. Since the 2008 season, the Rapidz played their home games at Ottawa Stadium[1], the former home of the Ottawa Lynx. Originally, the team was to be named the Ottawa Rapids, but following their sale to zip.ca, they became the Ottawa Rapidz.[2]

History

The Rapidz take the place of the Lynx, formerly of the International League, as the city of Ottawa's professional baseball team. The former Lynx moved after the 2007 season to Allentown, Pennsylvania, where the team rebranded as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The Ottawa City Council discussed different possibilities regarding Ottawa Stadium, and accepted the offer given by the Can-Am League president, Miles Wolff.

Logos and uniforms

The official colours of the Ottawa Rapidz are red, white, and blue. The primary logo is a wordmark that reads "Ottawa" in red with the word "Rapidz" centered on the underscore in white. With the underscore originating at the beginning of the logo, it ends with a Canadian maple leaf. The entire logo is outlined in blue.

As the Rapidz were to be the "Rapids" when the team originated, the logos and colors were also different. The original colours were black, blue, and silver. The initial logo included the "Rapids" wordmark in black with blue outline with a stylized depiction of a baseball splashing in blue rapids.
