Alan Mathews (born 27 June, 1965), is the current manager for the Irish football club Longford Town FC.

Appointed club manager in July 2002, Alan is a former Longford Town player who played for the club under the legendary Dermot Keely in the early 1990's. Alan is a Bank Manager with First Active and made his League of Ireland debut for St. Patrick's Athletic in August 1984 against Dundalk. His previous clubs include St. Patrick's Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, Galway United & Longford Town. Alan was also Assistant Manager to Dermot Keely at Shelbourne for several seasons. As a player he won a League medals in 86/87 & the FAI Cup, also in 1987, with Shamrock Rovers.

He has been capped for Ireland at U15 & U18 levels. He cites Dermot Keely & Pat Byrne as his main influences and considers Pat Byrne to be the best League of Ireland player in the last 20 years. Alan became the first Longford Town manager to win a senior trophy with the club in 2003, winning the FAI Cup. He was again successful in 2004 when he guided Longford to League Cup success and capped a memorable year for the club when he completed the double with a the FAI Cup win over Waterford United. He is, without doubt, the most successful manager in Longford Town FC history.
