The Retail industry in the Philippines is an important contributor to its economy as it accounts for roughly 15% of the Philippines’ total Gross National Product (GNP) and 33% of the entire services sector. It employs some 5.25 million people, representing a significant 18% of the Philippines' work force, which means roughly 2 of every ten (10) workers is employed in the retail industry. The Philippine Retailers Association is its association of retailers, mall and shopping center operators.

This article lists all shopping centers in the Philippines, listed by companies.

The first world-class shopping mall and complex outside Metro Manila, Limketkai Center has more than 300 shops and has two major anchors namely Plaza Fair & Robinsons Cagayan de Oro. The Center also houses Mullberry Suites Hotel, Rosario Arcade, home of The Site, bars and coffee shops like Cafè Macumba, Ghana, Candy's Cafè & Restaurant, Taza Coffee, East Wok, P.Joe's Diner, M2 Karaoke Bar, Pizza de Amore, Bigby's Cafè, Ice Castle, Coffeeworks, Sunburst Fried Chicken, Vanity Works Day Spa, the Town, and other establishments. The Rosario Arcade is also where one of Cagayan de Oro's home-grown call centers, Arriba Telecontact is located. Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center, one of the choice locations for conventions, is also within the complex. Within the vicinity are other hotels, Discovery Hotel in Florentino Drive and Pearlmont Inn. Limketkai Center had the very first Jollibee and McDonald's stores in the Visayas and Mindanao area. Zamboanga Peninsula Malls

Alta Mall, of Zamboanga City, was the first shopping mall in Zamboanga Peninsula region in the 1980s. It was turned into a barter center after most of the shops are closed. Alta Mall was closed in 1996 and remained vacant at the present time.

Mindpro Citimall, at present, is Zamboanga City's largest mall. It has 6 cinemas, a department store, and supermarket with a host of several stores and restaurants. It has Zamboanga's first in-mall Jollibee store and first Greenwich store in the region. While Peoples' Plaza is the first major shopping center in Pagadian City.

The Gaisano Group, which originally planned a mall in Zamboanga City years ago and later shelved have come back to invest in the city. Gaisano Capital Pagadian, under the management of Gaisano Capital Group of Companies, will become the widest and largest mall in Zamboanga Peninsula Region by late 2008 or early 2009, edging out Zamboanga City's Mindpro Citimall. Gaisano also proposed in 2004 to build its first mall in the region located in Dipolog City but they encountered problem dealing in the lot they supposed to buy so they abandoned the plan but the city is expecting for the new proposal of Gaisano Company to invest back since it will help the people because of their affordably priced products. Dynamic Development Corporation, from Dumaguete City, will have its second branch of Lee Super Plaza in Dipolog City (see Negros Oriental Malls).

The rise of major malls in Pagadian and Dipolog may boost the economy of the region due to the transfer of regional center to the former, though Zamboanga City's peace and order situation and the Filipino Chinese business competition hinder the investment of major malls. As for the rise of Gaisano Malls, it is a welcome signal for Pagadian, Zamboanga and soon in Dipolog to progress to increase the economy rate of the region.

It was Eddie Gaisano, one of the Gaisano Malls owners, who expressed interest in investing business in Zamboanga through a courtesy call with the City Mayor Celso Lobregat (source: Zamboanga Today, October 24, 2007 p.1).

Meanwhile, Plaza Fair, a department store investor from Manila, will have its branch in Zamboanga City located at the Midtown Plaza Mall by mid-2008. This marks the first major investment in Zamboanga City.
