Anssi Salmela is a Finnish professional ice-hockey player. He was born 13th of August 1984 in the city of Nokia in Finland. He started his career in 2003, in SM-liiga (Finnish ice hockey championship league), a team called Tappara (representing the city of Tampere). The next year he was transferred in to a team called Pelicans (representing the city of Lahti). In 2007 he moved back to Tappara. His number is 33.
He took a part in the Finnish team in the ice hockey world junior championship and won a bronze medal. In the Finnish national men ice hockeyteam he played the first time in 2006-2007. He missed the 2007-2008 competition but was back in the world championships held in Halifax, Canada in 2008.
He is a defenceman.
