The Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub hosts Amtrak passenger rail, Greyhound bus, and Utah Transit Authority's FrontRunner commuter rail, TRAX light rail and city bus service, located at the intersection of 600 West and 300 South.
Amtrak
The Salt Lake Intermodal Hub is served by the California Zephyr, which provides westbound service to Emeryville (San Francisco), California and eastbound service to Chicago, Illinois
The Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub is the third location to play host to the Salt Lake City Amtrak station, since Amtrak's inception in 1971. The Union Pacific Depot, located at the intersection of South Temple and 400 West, was the station's initial location. In 1986 the station was moved to the Rio Grande Depot, located at the intersection of 300 South and Rio Grande Street. In 1999 the station was moved to its current location—a temporary "shack" which is still in use almost a decade later.[1] However there are plans to expand the station into a new building that would sit along the drop-off area next to the Greyhound Terminal.[2]

History and Future Plans
The first tenant to arrive at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub was the Amtrak Station, which was moved to a temporary "shack" at the site in 1999.[3] City authorities began planning an intermodal passenger "hub" and on July 5, 2005, the Salt Lake City Intermodal Hub was dedicated. By the end of July, Greyhound had moved into a beautiful building at the Hub, which IBI Group and AJC Architects played a role in designing.[4] Soon thereafter the Utah Transit Authority began bus service to the Hub. On April 26, 2008, the Utah Transit Authority began FrontRunner commuter rail service and TRAX light rail service to the Hub.
Future plans for the Hub include constructing a permanent Amtrak Station, a possible parking garage, and a retail component.[5] As the Utah Transit Authority continues to expand its services, passenger traffic at the Hub will increase. Subsequently the role that the Hub plays in the life of Salt Lake City will grow.
