The ACM Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services (MobileHCI) series of academic conferences is generally considered the most prestigious in the field of mobile human-computer interaction. It is hosted by ACM SIGCHI, the Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction and ACM SIGMOBILE, the special interest group on mobility of systems, users, data and computing. MobileHCI has been held annually since 1998. MobileHCI 2008 will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The MobileHCI series started in 1998 as a stand-alone Workshop on Human Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices organized by Chris Johnson held at The University of Glasgow. In the following year the workshop was held as in conjunction with the Interact conference and was organised by Stephen Brewster and Mark Dunlop. In 2001 MobileHCI was again organized by Brewster and Dunplop in association with a major conference. This year in conjunction with IHM-HCI in Lille, France.

In 2002 MobileHCI was held independent from a associated conference as a stand-alone symposium in Pisa, Italy organized by Fabio Paternò. In 2003 the conference was organized by Luca Chittaro in Udine, Italy. In 2004 was again organized by Brewster and Dunlop and located the University of Strathclyde. In the following years the conference took place in Austria, Finland, and Singapore.

MobileHCI 2008 is organized by Henri ter Hofte and Ingrid Mulder from the Telematica Instituut in the Netherlands. It will be located in the Royal Tropical Institute conference centre in Amsterdam.
