Project Superstar was the most popular programme on Channel U during the second half of 2005.
Introduction
This is the most-watched event in 2005. Over 4000 aspirants competed in Suntec City to be the next superstar. In the end, only 24 lucky ones enter the quarter finals of the competition.
Under the guidance of music director Wu Jiamin and the close scrutiny of judges - Singapore’s acclaimed singers and producers Ye Peifen, Li Feihui, Xu Huanliang, Fang Zhonghua and Li Weisong – the 24 will be brought to the test. Will they be able to take the heat and rise up to the challenge? Who will up their game? And who will be left biting the dust?
As they go up against each other week by week, only one female and one male will emerge at the top of their game at the end. The two will engage in a record sales war before the finals where they each get to produce singles with record companies Play Music and Universal Music. The performance of their single will account for 30% of the final results.
They will be put to the ultimate test when they go head to head in a battle of sexes in the final show: the Grand finals, scheduled on September 1 2005. Both the female and male winners will receive a lucrative recording contract.
