1992 was the first full year of the Nielsen SoundScan implementation. It was discovered this year that people like particular songs longer than previously suspected. A few examples are Kris Kross' "Jump" (#1 8 weeks), and Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" (#1 13 weeks).
At 13 weeks at #1, Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" posted the most consecutive weeks at #1 on November 14, breaking a record that held for 36 years! The previous record was an 11 consecutive week record that was set by Elvis Presley's "Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog".
