Cabhan is the nickname for me, Alex, living in Maryland of the United States. I am, unfortunately, not associated with the Irish county of An Cabhan, though the Gaelic translation ("Grassy Hill") somewhat reflects my lazy, natural way of life. I am also quite obsessed with the Celts =).
Real Life
Let's see...what am I...
Well, I'm very interested in religion. I practice what I call Taoist Eclectic Wicca. I am a very strong believer in Taoist philosophy, and I combine this with the practices and beliefs of Wicca. The two are quite compatible, thankfully.
I'm also very interested in computers. I am currently fluent in HTML (not a real programming language, I know =p) and Java. I also speak basic C++ and Perl. My computer currently runs entirely on Linux, Gentoo Linux to be exact.
As far as other interests go...I love music. My tastes are a bit odd, I am a HUGE fan of Celtic music and New Age Music (especially Enya). I also love a lot of rock music, with my favorites being Marilyn Manson (saw him in concert on 11/20/2004 at the 9:30 Club in D.C.) and Rammstein. Also a big favorite of mine are The Dresden Dolls (5/20/2005), who have some pretty crazy music.
I also love reading. I'm a big fan of fantasy and science fiction. I'm a humongous Star Wars geek, and I've read almost all the books. But the two greatest books of all time are The Mists of Avalon and The Lord of the Rings. As it stands right now, my copy of The Mists of Avalon stands next to The Communist Manifesto in the display area of my bookcase.
I'm fairly active politically. I'm the former President of my school's Young Democrats Club. I'm a flamingly liberal Communist. I'm a card-carrying member of the ACLU, and also a member of Amnesty International. I am a registered member of the Green Party.
Wikipedia
As far as my Wikipedia habits go, I have a few articles that I adopt and follow religiously, and others that I just browse. I am a voracious reader of Recent Changes, and any new article is quickly investigated. I classify myself as more of a Deletionist; I am appalled at some content that we find here.
