Introduction

Tanger-Med is the new cargo port near Tangier, Morocco. It is the largest port on the Mediterranean and in Africa. It went into service in July 2007[1]. Its initial capacity is 3.5 million shipment containers.[2]

Investment and Development

The Tanger-Med Port will bring a lot of investment to northern Morocco, and will also create jobs for many Moroccans and foreign managers.



Future Plans

The port will reach full capacity by 2015, when it is expected to operate 8 million containers, 7 million passengers, 700,000 trucks, 2 Million vehicles, and 10 million MT of oil products.[3]
