Hypnotize is an album by System of a Down. It is now expected to be released around November, 2005, six months after the release of companion album Mezmerize on May 17. There was some confusion in early 2005 over these release dates, with many fans and fan-sites believing that the releases were to be in the opposite order. The album was supposed to be called Mezmerize before rotating.
The release date, which was previously thought to be September 27, has now been confirmed to be somewhere around November according to a recent interview with Serj:
musicOMH.com: Are you still planning to release the follow-up disc, Hypnotize, in the next couple months? Hopefully all the SOAD fans have had enough time to process Mezmerize by then, right? Serj: Yes, sometime in November.
The rest of the interview can be read here.
Songs that have been confirmed to be on the album are: "Kill Rock N' Roll", "Holy Mountain", "Lonely Day", "Vicinity (of Obscenity)", "Hypnotize", "Tentative" and "Attack". Also, according to Serj in a recent interview, Soldier Side (likely the outro version) will be the final track on Hypnotize.
There have already been two live bootlegs of the songs "Kill Rock n' Roll," and "Holy Mountain" leaked on to the internet. "Kill Rock n' Roll" is a song much like "Cigaro" from Mezmerize and "Holy Mountain" is much like "Aerials" from Toxicity. In addition to this, a video showing snippets of the band playing unreleased songs (pre-Mezmerize) at a Big Day Out concert in New Zealand has been made. The video features a snippet of "Tentative", an unknown interlude to "War?" (possibly a new song) and other songs. The clip can be viewed here
