The Power of Five series is written by Anthony Horowitz. The series is about the Old Ones, evil spirits attempting world domination and the Five children who are the only ones that can stop them. In book one, Raven's Gate, Matt Freeman, the leader of the Five, is captured and nearly killed in a ritual to summon the Old Ones (which fails). In book two, Evil Star, Matt goes to Peru, where he meets Pedro, the second of the Five. However, they can't stop the Old Ones returning this time. Book Three, Nightrise, introduces Scott and Jamie Tyler, the third and fourth of the Five. Scott is kidnapped and Jamie framed for murder, but Jamie and his new-found friend, Alicia McGuire, rescue Scott and Alicia's son Daniel from Nightrise. Afterwards, Scott and Jamie enter a portal which takes them to Cuzco and they meet Matt and Pedro there.
The title for the fourth book in the Power of Five series was announced on AnthonyHorowitz.com on 16 July 2007. The book is set to be published and released on October 30, 2008 in hardback edition. Horowitz says that it will involve Scarlett Adams (who was introduced in the third book Nightrise) and "devastation on a massive scale." In a blog by Anthony Horowitz on his website, he revealed he has done his research in Hong Kong for Necropolis (where the book is set). He also revealed that the plot of the book is that the Old Ones kidnap Scarlett, who is the fifth of the Five, and use her as bait in a trap to capture Matt - the main protagonist of the first two books, and leader of the Five. He also revealed that the book would be split into three parts and that the first two parts are written in first person. The first part will be narrated by Scarlett. The second part is narrated by Matt. And the third part will be told by Anthony Horowitz. Most of the book is set in Hong Kong but it is also set in London, Peru and the Ukraine. Horowitz has now finished the book, and has delivered it to his publishers. The cover and release date can be found at the back of the paperback edition of Horowitz' other novel Snakehead. [1]
