Samuel de Champlain

Samuel de Champlain (c. 1567 - 1635) was a French explorer of the Eastern seaboard of the United States.

Samuel de Champlain was born at Brouage, a coastal city southeast of Rochefort in France, opposite the island of Oléron.

Samuel de Champlain settled in his new country and died at Québec City on December 25, 1635.

Lake Champlain is named after him.
