HD 40307 is a star located 42 light years away in the direction of the southern Dorado and Pictor constellations. It is slightly smaller than the Sun.

Planetary system

In June, 2008 the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO) announced that they had discoverd three "Super-Earths" orbiting the star.[1] All three planets were detected with the HARPS spectrograph system.
