Birendra Shah
Appearance
Birendra Shah (Template:Lang-ne) was a Nepalese journalist. He was kidnapped and killed in late 2007 by cadres of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). The CPN(M) later issued a statement confirming his death.[1] His death drew criticism from several press freedom organizations, including Reporters without borders[2], the Committee to Protect Journalists[3], and the International Federation of Journalists[4].
More than a month after the killing, Maoist Deputy Commander Janardan Sharma Prabhakar apologized on behalf of his party, which had previously claimed innocence.[5]
