Oakwood tube station

Oakwood tube station is the second most northerly station on the Piccadilly Line, between Southgate and Cockfosters stations, and in Travelcard Zone 5. It is on Bramley Road (the A110 road), on the corner of Chase Road, in London N14. (The other end of Chase Road is close to Southgate tube station.)

Opened 13 March 1933, as Enfield West, being given its current name, via Enfield West (Oakwood) 1 September 1946.

The station building is a fine example of the architecture of Charles Holden. It is unusually large and imposing. A small hallway leads into a very large and high-ceilinged booking hall.

Attached to each side of the building are shops. The one to the left (facing the main entrance from Bramley Road) is currently a café and the one to the right is currently an estate agent. On both sides are parades of shops built in the same style.
