Najafgarh is located at the outskirts of New Delhi, India. In the southwestern part of Delhi, it is a mixture of Yadavs, Jat and Brahmin populations.

Najafgarh has the distinction of being the most populous electoral region in the National Capital Region of India. Najafgarh has about 70 villages bordering Haryana. Most of the colonies are not well planned as these are unauthorised colonies and are not built according to Delhi Master Plan. It has been largely ignored by the city municipal corporation (MCD) and hardly any development work is done by MCD here. Najafgarh is surrounded by a lot of farm houses owned by celebrities or businessmen. Mr. Sajjan Kumar is the Member of Parliament from Outer Delhi and Chairman of the Rural Development Board. Sh. Ranbir Singh Kharab is the member of state legislative assembly.

1: The most famous personality of Najafgarh is Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag who is former captain and currently a member of the national cricket team of India. With his success in World Cricket, he has brought Najafgarh on the World Map; a reason good enough for people to call him "Nawab of Najafgarh".

2: 'Famous Kashmiri colony is located on the outskirts of Najafgarh. It mostly houses the Kashmiri migrants which got settled here because of the ongoing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.'

3: Jain brothers involved in stock trade scam Hawala Scam also belonged to Najafgarh.

4: Najafgarh is also well known for its wholesale and retail market, which caters to more than 200 villages around Najafgarh.

5: Najafgarh has the second largest food grain market, after Narela, in Delhi.

Several Religious/ meditation centres are located in and around Najafgarh. One of the most famous temple in Najafgarh is that of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. It’s located on the Najafgarh- Tilak Nagar Road. Thursday is the most auspicious day to visit this temple. A large number of devotees visit here from almost all the parts of Western Delhi. It also includes a Holy Place of Hindu Saint BABA HARIDAS, CRPF Group Centre in Jharoda Kalan. A few of the maditations centres in and around Najafgarh are Ashram of Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu, Osho Dham (of Guru Rajnish), Ashram of Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj at Bakkarwala, Nirmal Dham of Nirmala Devi. It also has the famous Dilli Darwaja meaning gate to Delhi. The Dilli Darwaja is a historical monument built during the Mughal Period.

While travelling from Bhadurgarh to Gurgaon one has to travel through Najafgarh. Najafgarh is well connected to all parts of Delhi via bus service. One Delhi Metro depot is also located here. The depot is the maintenance centre for the Indraprastha- Dwarka Metro Line. Both Delhi National/ International airports are less than 20 km (via main routes) from Najafgarh.
