Tamirabarani is perhaps the only river that could be called PERINIELL in the whole south India. Though a very small river (measuring upto 130kms), the river has had due mention in the ancient SANGAM literature (an ancient and renowned literature of 'Tamils'-the people of TAMIL NADU, the south Indian state where the river flows.)Tamil being the second oldest language of India, was known to have been nurtured by 'Pandya' kings by establishing 'Sangams'-ancient centers of research & development of the Tamil language.

The river Tamirabarani flows in the 'Tirunelveli'district of south Tamilnadu, granting its fertile alluvial valley throughout the district.
