Can a school be encyclopedic? The answer is "yes". Many schools have value as encyclopedic articles. Columbine High School is because of the tragic shooting there, Bellarmine College Preparatory does because of it's age, importance (first H.S. in CA) and its notable alumni such as the former owner of the Oakland Athletics.

However not all schools are worthy of articles in an encyclopedia. Middle schools, elementary schools and preschools do not have any intrinsic notability on their own. These institutions are a dime a dozen and are no more worthy of articles then the local Safeway grocery store. They are not any more important in the grand scheme of things then a grocery store or a gas station. High Schools generally are far fewer and as such more notable to both their community and more likely to have notable alumni or have made some greater contribution that would make them worthy of an article.

We urge people to vote on the following VfD'ed schools on their individual merit as articles, not on the fact that they are schools. If you have question about what might constitute "merit" please see User:Dpbsmith/BEEFSTEW for an outstanding merit evaluation criteria originally intended for high schools but it also works for primary schools.
