Sage

File:Rwsage.jpg
Sage

Sage is the "Warrior of Light" and is the bearer of the Halo Armor. His symbol is "Wisdom" and his attack cry is "Thunder Bolt Cut". His main weapon is a giant sword. Sage is considered the most mature and aloof member of the Ronins. He speaks only when necessary and during important situations. One of the main focal points of his character takes place in the CD drama "Korinden", when he questions whether or not to be with the Ronins Warriors. Sage's main opponent was Cale, the Dark Warlord of Corruption. In the OVA "Gaiden" Sage was captured by Shikaisen and the Mad Scientist; his Halo Armor was used to kill people in New York, one of them being Runa's brother. In the 3rd OVA, Sage was the only Ronin to go along with Suzunagi's plan, as he sympathized with her and her situation. In the end, he received new armor and upgraded abilities.

Sage's comes from a very traditional Japanese family, where the women are in power. He has a father who is a police man, a mother, grandmother, grandfather, older sister Yayoi, and younger sister Satsuki. Satsuki is the most "normal" of the Date family and doesn't use proper Japanese language like her siblings. It was often implied that Sage was half American because of his blonde hair--THIS IS FALSE. Anime characers are given colorful hair to give the audience a clue as to who are the important characters. Thus Sage having blonde hair, Rowen with blue, etc.

Rowen Hashiba

File:Rwrowen.jpg
Rowen

Rowen is the brains of the Ronin Warriors and the first to appear (after Ryo). He has an IQ of 250, and often serves as the voice of reason in the group as a counter-balance to the hotter tempers of Ryo and Kento. Rowen speaks with a heavy Brooklyn accent; however, in the dubbed OVAs, he no longer carries the accent... Rowen's father, Genichirou, is a "mad scientist" and due to the very busy schedule he keeps, doesn't get to see his son often. There are wide-spread rumors across the Internet that Genichirou was an abusive alcaholic who often beat Rowen, but this is largely unfounded and is often used in fanfiction stories. His mother is a journalist who travels a lot and doesn't see much of her ex-husband or her son. She treats them both as friends, rather than family.

Rowen's Ronin armor is Strata (Tenku in the original). His armor's symbol is "life". The armor's principal weapon is a collapsible ongbow which is attached to the back of the armor, along with a small metallic quiver, from which a presumably unlimited amount of arrows can be drawn. Strata's province is air manipulation, which comes into play with the armor's "sure kill" or ultimate attack, "Arrow Shockwave". The attack is utilized by Rowen drawing an arrow into his bow, and charging it with energy, which accumulates in the arrow's tip. Once the charging is complete, Rowen fires the arrow, which detonates on impact, producing a tremendous disrpution of air.

Like the other Ronins, Rowen gained a new suit of armor in the the 3rd OVA "Message", however its powers and abilities remain unknown.

Kento

File:Rwkento.jpg
Kento

Kento is the group's muscle, having the greatest physical strength of all the Ronins. Like Ryo, he has a short temper and is quick to anger when provoked, but he also has the biggest heart of the other Ronins and is a loyal friend when push comes to shove.

Kento has the largest family of the Ronins, and is the oldest of four siblings. He has two sisters, Rinfi and Chun Fa, and two brothers, Mei Ryu and Yun. Kento's parents own a successful resteraunt buisness in Yokohama, and as a result, the family is quite wealthy, although Kento doesn't consider being rich a big deal.

Kento's Ronin armor is "Hardrock" and his symbol is "Justice". The armor's weapon is a triple-sectioned naginata, which he can wield like a pair of nunchakus in close combat. The armor's surekill is "Iron Rock Crusher" which causes a massive earthquake-like disruption in the earth around him.

Kento, like the other Ronins, acquired a new suit of armor in the OVA "Message", but its powers and abilities are unknown.

Special Note: "Shu" is the LAST name of this character. The translators made a mistake when giving him his name. In the original Japanese version, his family name is "Shu" and his given name (or first name) is "Rei Fuan" (or however you wish to spell it).

Cye

File:Rwcye.jpg
Cye

Cye is the oldest of the Ronins and normally one of the calmest. His armor is "Torrent" and his symbol is "Trust". His weapon is a spear with three sharp prongs on the tip which can grab opponents from afar or snap through obstacles. His element is water. While Cye may appear calm and collected, he can unleash his emotions in a fury and his anger can overpower even the strongest Ronin (i.e. Kento, during episode 2 of "The Legend of Kikoutei" OVA). His attack cry is "Super Wave Smaser".

Cye's family situation is similar to the other Ronins. His father died when he was young, his mother is often ill, and he has an older sister (who is married to a fellow whom Cye didn't like at first). However, the Ronins, Mia, and Ully are like family to him.

Cye's main opponent is Sekhmet, the Dark Warlord of Venom. However, in the drama CD, "Suikoden", he encounters a villain named Toryuki, a demon living on Earth whose powers were similar to his.

Ryo

File:Rwryo.jpg
Ryo

Ryo is the unofficial leader of the Ronin Warriors. His symbol is "Virtue" and his armor is "Wildfire" and later he wears the "White Armor of Inferno". His element is fire and his attack cry is "Flare Up Now". He is often called "hot-headed" by fans and he does tend to charge ahead without putting too much thought into the situation before hand (like Kento). Never the less, he has a big heart and cares for his friends. His weapons are a pair of samurai swords and later, when he inherits the White Armor, he gains two new swords called the "Sword Swords of Fervor"; his attack cry then is "Rage of Inferno".

Ryo's only blood related family is his father, a tiredless photographer. Mr. Sanada makes his first official appearance in a cassette drama (like a CD drama but on cassette tape), Cassette Collection #3 where he was possessed by an unnamed demon). But even after such an event, he soon takes off for another photography assignment, much to Ryo's dismay.

By the end of the 3rd OVA, "Message", Ryo gained a new armor and more powerful abilities.

The Ancient

File:Rwancient.jpg
The Ancient

The man who did battle with Talpa and banished him the the Nether Realm over one thousand years ago. He is responsible for the creation of the nine mystical armors, in which he forged from Talpas discarded armor after he defeated him.

When Talpa returned one thousand years later, so did the Ancient one, but this time to assist the Ronins in their struggle against the evil emperor. On many occasions he would help them in defeating an opponent that was too strong for them. When he came across the leader of the Dark Warlords, Anubis, he tried to show him that he was being used by Talpa; that by only gaining strength for himself, ment tht he was only gaining it for Talpa (i.e. he was only being manipulated). This led Anubis to question his place among Talpa's ranks and eventually tried to escape.

When it came time for the Ronins to make an assault on Talpa's castle, the Ancient literally turned himself into the bridge that would lead them along the way. This was his sacrafice. Although he died, his role did not end yet.

After the Ronins defeated Talpa for the first time, Anubis reappeared in the Ancient's attire. Though this didn't mean that Anubis was the Ancient One, because that role was to be later filled by the true heir and last of the Ancient Clan--Lady Kayura.

The Ancient One makes one last appearance but it wasn't until the 3rd OVA, "Message". During various flashbacks, the Ancient was seen during World War II at the ruins of a temple. He discovered the sealed box that contained the Armor of Strata. It was there he discovered the ghost-child, Suzunagi. He felt sorry for the girl because she was filled with hatred and revenge; however, he knew she was trouble when she attacked him, claiming that the armors were evil. He, along with the newly revived Strata Armor, chased Suzunagi away and with that, the Ancient mysteriously vanishes...

Talpa

File:Rwtalpa.jpg
Talpa

Over a thousand years ago, the evil demon emperor Talpa threatened the existance of the Mortal World. He was encountered and soon defeated by the Ancient One, who was the guardian of the mortal world. Before his defeat, Talpa vowed to extract revenge in a thousand years. So while his spirit was sent back to the Nether Realm, his giant armor was stripped apart and rebuilt, this time into nine seperate armors with their own seperate powers and virtues.

During the modern era, Talpa follows through with his revenge and takes over the city of Toky by capturing its citizens. But before this happened, he managed to recruit four humans who discovered their armors during the feudal era of Japan. These four would eventually become the Four Dark Warlords of the Dynasty. Talpa would send them out on missions to destroy the Ronin Warriors who threatened to wreck his plans of world domination. Eventually the evil emperor is defeated and sent back to the Nether Realm. In the second TV series, Talpa returns stronger and more determined than ever. He even unleashes a secret weapon against the Ronins, a weapon that his own Warlords didn't even know about: Lady Kayura, the wicked demon priestess. But not even he could predict the outcome of his battle and in the end, was defeated for good by the Ronin Warriors.

In episode 2 of "Gaiden", Shikaisen's last form against the Ronin Warriors looked eerily like Talpa--but until "Message" was released a few years later, Talpa never made another appearance.

Talpa's origins was told in a book written by a member of the Sunrise staff. It came out around the same time as the novelized versions of the TV series, and a special novel about the Kaos clan.

Anubis

File:Rwanubis.jpg
Anubis

Anubis was the leader of the Four Dark Warlords and was by far the most arrogant. Before he was one of them, he was a warrior who took many lands for his clan. Talpa saw the potential in him and recruited him to be one of his warlords. It was later that the Ancient One helped Anubis see that Talpa was merly useing him as a tool and later tried to escape from Talpa's clutches, but ultimatly failed and was absorebed into Talpa.

After Talpa was defeated by the hands of the Ronins, Anubis was presumed dead but he soon reappeared wearing the Ancient One's clothing. Although no one trusted him at first, he continued to help the Ronins in their fight against Talpa who had revealed himself to them. It was only by proving his worth to them that the heroes trusted him. He managed to send Ryo and Rowen to the Nether Realm and help Mia and Ully find the Jewel of Life.

He, Mia, and Ully soon ventured to the Nether Realm to assist Ryo and Rowen in their rescue attempt for the others. It was then that he came into contact with Lady Kayura. It was later revealed that she was the last living member of the Ancient Clan. In a battle with her, he broke the amulet that Talpa used to control her.

Later in a struggling battle Anubis called forth his Armor of Cruelty (with the Ancient One's help) one last time to fight his fellow Warlords and a possessed Lady Kayura. In a final clash between Anubis and Kayura, Anubis used all of his energy to drive Badamon from Kayura's body--this also allowed his armor to be placed onto her. With this task performed, Anubis fulfilled his duties and died.

Cale

File:Rwcale.jpg
Cale

The second bearer of the armor coruption and second in command of the warlords. Cale is the virtual opposite of sage ( sage being the warrior of light). Cale sports a cross shaped scar having the vertical part going right through his left eye and the horizontal part going across his cheek. Like the other 2 he is jelous of Anubis being the leader and Talpa's favorite. This usually leads to the four freequently bickering with eachother havnig Talpa to break it up with threats.

After Anubis's leave and Talpa's defeat, Cale was the one left in command of the warlords. This worsened his relationship with the other two remaining warlords (even though it wasnt a good relationship to start with). Even Cale as the leader, his position with talpa did not change at all. For Kayura took Anubis's place as favorite. It was then that the other warlords didnt care as much about Cale being the leader, but some girl, someone who isnt even one of Talpa's warlords is favored amongest them! This led Cale, Dais, and Sekhmet to freequetnly complain about her between themselves.

When Talpa started to make his survival apparent to the Ronins by sending minions, Cale was soon dispatched. He went to Capture Sage, his somewhat opposite. By doing so, he played with Sages Feellings by makeing him think that both he and Sage were alike. To prove this, Cale took possesion of some dead deer and made them attack Sage. Eventually he got to fight Sage, but lost the fight. This did not matter because Cale's mission was accomplished anyway. With Talpa taking both warriors to the netherealm.

When the two Ronins (Ryo and Rowen) attacked Talpa's castle in the netherealm. Cale had some battles with them. In one of those battles, Ryo absorbed the power of both Rowen's armor and the three warlords armors to form the armor of Inferno. Defeated an enemy and then escaped.

After the final battle was fought between the Ronins and Talpa. Talpa's hold over the three warlords was broken. Seeing as how hey had no place in the modern world they returned back to the netherealm with kayura, who was the new wearer of Anubis's armor.

Cale's armor has a very long Nodachi on his back and has 3 sharp claws on his right handguard. His armor gives him the ability to manipulate the Darkness, Blizzards, and even the corpses of animals. His armor is mostly a grey color with a cape on the back. His under armor is a dark red with the chesplate being a reddish-pink color.

Dais

File:Rwdais.jpg
Dais

Dais is the oldest of the four warlords. He is even the sole surviving memeber of Talpa's original four warlords. This makes him the first and only person to ever wear the armor of Illusion. He wears an eyepatch over where his left eye is supposed to be.

When we first see him, he arrives on a roof top with the other three warlords after the Ronins defeat one of Talpa's soldiers. They soon then announce themselves and then dissapear. Dais didnt see any action until after the Ronins were separeated. When Ryo and Sai were looking for Rowen, Dais appeared on the scene at a temple and lured them into the forest. It was then that he utilized his armor's special abilities and pitted Ryo and Sai against one another. making them think the other was one of Talpas soldiers. Later Sage and Kento arrived at the temple where Dais appeared and followed some scratches in nearby trees to the battle ground.

There Kento and Sage found Ryo and Sai baddly injured due to that they were fighting each other under Dais's spell. Then when the two able Ronins were ready for battle, Dais appeared again and did the same thing he did to Ryo and Sai, but this time he made each other thinking they were fighting Dais himself. Well into the fight, Sage noticed something about his opponent. he was moveing alot like Kento. so he then decided to look in the reflection of his sword and saw Kento in the reflection. evetnually Sage saw through Dais's illusion and defeated him.

When the Ronins were all together again, they decided to launch an attack on Talpa's castle. like the other warlords( acceptAnubis)Dais was there Waiting for them. He was eventually defeated and soon absorbed by Talpa so that he could become phisical again. After that happend, he was sent back to the netherealm by the armor of Inferno.

When Anubis left the warlords. Cale was appointed the new leader. Dais didnt think very highly of Talpa's descicion, but that wouldnt matter. For soon, Kayura was the one Talpa liked most. When Talpa started to make his survival apparent to the Ronins by sending minions, Dais was soon dispatched. He went to Capture Kento, seeing as how his ilusions can fool him the best. Even as a percaution, Dais brought along the Sand Twins with him.

Eventually kento saw through both the Twins unusuall fighting tactics, and Dais's illusions. He was able to take down the Twins, but this left him immensly weakend. The unharmed Dais was able to take Kento to the netherealm just as he was instucted.

When Anubis resurfaced, Dais went to confront him. A battle erupted between the two with Anubis the victor. Dais was esily beaten by anubis. even so far as to haveing his helmet knocked off and exposeing his face to both Mia and Yuli. Then being lectured by Anubis, being told that he is only a tool to Talpa. Truley a humiliateing defeat.

When the two Ronins (Ryo and Rowen) attacked Talpa's castle in the netherealm. Dais had some battles with them.

Dais's armor is a light purple-ish/dark pink color. it has six Kammas on the back reperesenting spider legs. he can make these kammas extend to any length he sees fit. he also has a flail on his right gauntlet. his armor also alows him to spin webs, and create illisions(Duh!). his under armor is a very Dark pine green with a very light pine green chestplate.

Sekhmet

File:Rwsekhmet.jpg
Sekhmet

Sekhmet is the Dark Warlord of Venom. He is Cye of the Torrent's main opponent. His symbol is "Piety" and his attack cry is "Snake Fang Strike". His first assignment was during episode 4, when he tracked Ryo, Mia, and Ully to Shinsha University. He used his powers to poison Dr. Koji and turn him against the heroes. Never the less, his plans to kill Ryo failed and was soon defeated.

He, Cale, and Dais often belittled their leader, Anubis, whenever possible. But he and the others respected him enough to defend him in the CD drama, "Tsuki" when Gogasha wanted to take Anubis' place as leader of the Four Warlords.

Sekhmet's heritage is unknown; many fan fiction written about him say he is half snake and half human. With his pale skin, purple eyelids, and beady black eyes, it's easy to assume so.

Kayura

File:Rwkyra.jpg
Kayura

The last known member of the clan of Kaosu the Anicent, Kayura was abducted at the age of eight by the Dynasty when Talpa discovered she was to be Kaosu's eventual sucessor. Warping her own near-infinte supernatural powers to his will and aging her into pre-adolescence, Talpa reared Kayura to be his ultimate weapon against the Ronin Warriors. Kept under his thrall by a magical amulet worn about her neck, Kayura made her prescence known to the Ronins when she fought Rowen and Ryo shortly after they had all embarked on their own personal vision-quest to get in touch with their armors powers. Kayura revealed to Ryo and Rowen that the other Ronins had been captured by the Dark Warlords and taken into the Netherworld as the Dynasty's captives. Ryo and Rowen were extremely hard pressed to defeat her, as her powers far outreached that of their armors on several occasions.

However, when Ryo battled her in the White Armor of the Inferno, he inadvertantly destroyed the amulet that kept her in Talpa's power. While she was not completely free of his control, Kayura was left in a state of confusion after this. At Talpa's behest, Baddamon, the leader of Talpa's Nether Spirits, took possession of Kayura's body and battled the Ronins again; this time even conquering the White Armor's near-inifinte power. Kayura was ultimately freed from Baddamon's posession by Anubis, who had taken up the mantle of the Ancient and sacrificed his own life to break the Nether Priest's hold on her. After's Talpa's destruction at the hands of Ryo, Kayura and the Warlords returned to the Netherworld to begin the process of rebuilding the Dynasty as a benevolent empire.

Kayura possesses near-infinte supernatural powers, due to her ancestry as a member of the Clan of the Ancients. She wields the Shakujo, the supernatural staff that symbolizes the Clan's power, which is more powerful than all the Ronin and Warlord's weapons combined. In her warrior persona under Talpa's control, her weapons were twin jitte or short swords called the Sei Rei Ken, which have blades instead of blunt rods. She also utitlized her own surekill called "Star Sword Scream" or "Ran Sei Zan" which means "Storm Star Cut". Kayura also makes use of Anubis' Armor of Cruelty/Loyalty for physical protection. Kayura, like the other Warlords is immortal, and physically appears to be no more than in her twenties, but in reality she is 428 years old.
