Hello there, welcome to the 'pedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you need any questions answered about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump. Cheers! --maveric149

Didn't mean to tread on your toes; I tought "Euro Disney" was the "official" name for the place, and hence it would be a more appropriate title for the entry here. The typoes were due to my own hasty attempt to move it over. 'Nuff said, my apologies. Modemac

Thanks to you and others for helping clean up after today's vandalism. --Ed Poor

see we can all get along! Lir 18:17 Oct 29, 2002 (UTC) yay!

Yes, sorry for being hasty (i'm afraid it will happen again, hopefully less). The fact is that I don't know where such notices should go. Apart that they shouldn't be in "vandalism"... BTW, I noticed the lag too. It's not just a question of night/day or number of visitors. Some queries are complex (like the one that searches for spelling errors) and if several people do complex queries simultaneously, the server may overload. Of course this is more likely to happen if there are many visitors. FvdP 18:26 Oct 29, 2002 (UTC)

20021113 - Submitted by [Jmallios] in response to FvdP's question of the use of Omega notation on the [Bubble Sort] page: I prefer the use of Omega notation over Theta when talking about the best case scenario (i.e. lower bound) of a function or algorithm. By using Omega(n) instead of Theta(n) as the complexity of sorting an already-sorted list (which is the best possible case for a list with more than 0 elements), the reader can infer that the algorithm will perform absolutely no less efficiently than (n). Theta only implies that there is an upper AND lower bound, but does not necessarily define either. Therefore, Theta is best used in the "average" case. Notice I thought Theta was appropriate when defining the general performance of Bubble Sort. Thanks, Jason Mallios, Austin, Texas.

Yes, I may have been too harsh...I shall excuse myself. But, if I had not been watching that page, the info would have disappeared. Just because he was *careless*. I often do some copy paste from one page to another and move things around. It happens (quite often all considered) I do some mistake, which is why I try to always have a look on a page I just saved. I spent some time this morning looking around checking for other deletions. I don't like loosing my time and seeing some of the things I have been doing disappear just because otherwise valuable contributors are careless.
And I also agree the % should be moved to another page about 2002 elections where they would fit better. I just quickly updated elections results while the info was easily available a couple of month ago. user:anthere

Gasp, I had the feeling Opera use was ok on the english one...Was it related to some greek characters ??? If so, I must be careful...

The french wiki just had a nice porn picture instead of the main page. Very cute. Fortunately I just dropped very soon after. I am worried that sometimes it is all alone for hours. If someone one day decide to really vandalize it during a quiet time (say during the french night time when noone is there for a good couple of hours), it is gonna be a hell of a work to put everything back. User:anthere

Just a technical query... Your last edit to Lir's User page doesn't seem to show up in the page's history. It this just a problem at my end, or a bug in the system, or is it not actually supposed to show up? It's confusing me! -- Oliver Pereira 16:35 Nov 25, 2002 (UTC)

It show up in my browser. To my knowledge, all modifications always appear in the history list. If the problem persists on your side, you should ask someone more knowledgeable than me... And, by the way, welcome to the Wikipedia ! FvdP 17:10 Nov 25, 2002 (UTC)
Okay. At first I thought it was a caching thing, but I've reloaded the page properly, and the change still doesn't show up! It only seems to be that page - possibly something to do with its being protected...? Oh well, I'm not that bothered really, as long as it doesn't start happening on other pages. If it does, I'll ask someone... And thanks for the welcome. :) -- Oliver Pereira 18:40 Nov 25, 2002 (UTC)
Oops, sorry, I'd seen Jimbo's edit, but then looked back at my watchlist (without refreshing it!) and it said that you'd made the last edit, so I started thinking you'd made one after Jimbo - what a ridiculous thing to think! Apologies for cluttering up your Talk page with my confusions... -- Oliver Pereira 18:50 Nov 25, 2002 (UTC)
No problem ! --FvdP 14:48 Nov 26, 2002 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me ! I would not have guess I had another head !!! (I do not monitor recent changes much...). Youpi, I have 4 user pages now ! Actually I must confess I was thinking of setting me up a user:Anthere on the fr:wiki (plus redirect), for I often mistakenly type the wrong reference to sign...utilisateur:anthere LOL

Re: your comment about km². Thanks for telling me. I'll change it in km² tomorrow or the day after that. I don't have the time now. Dhum Dhum 19:18 Dec 4, 2002 (UTC)

Hi, see my comment in Talk:Sikhism. --Dante Alighieri 01:03 Dec 5, 2002 (UTC)

Perhaps I should have moved the SCA link when I put the redirect in. I don't mind the edit, but I thought the Ettiquite was not to mess with people's User page. In this case, no harm, no foul. ;->

Seems like we have some common interests. I'll have to keep an eye on your edits.... -- Jeff 22:35 Jan 2, 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for your interest ! But I'm afraid I have not contributed that much significative content here till now.

I agree with you on user's pages netiquette. I prefer not to touch them and do touch them only with great caution, not changing any content. (Even spelling corrections I avoid.) But once in a while I cross the border... -- FvdP

You know, FvdP, I like you. You're a great guy. So, if you'll tolerate my horrid high school French... I'll try to talk to you in it. :) I could use some help there anyway. The Annie that is a Cat

Don’t remove text on the arbitrary basis of the information being covered somewhere else. If the text is valid in the article, then leave it alone.

If you don't understand how your copying the same text everywhere is annoying, you're in great danger of being eventually banned. Of course there are other annoyings things to, like your propension to reverse. FvdP 02:41 Jan 3, 2003 (UTC)

I see 172 feels free to make deletions from your User page. -- Zoe

I saw it too. I don't care, all I wanted is to have this list of links put beyond the danger of disparition by account erasure. It's now safe in my history list.

I MAY BE UNPOPULAR, BUT A MORON SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THAT YOUR DELETING MY CONTRIBUTIONS PERTAINING TO CONGO BECAUSE YOU’RE FROM BELGIUM!

172

I don't think you understand why I deleted this text. See Leopold's II talk page. See how Danny agreed with me. Is Danny a Balgian nationalist ? Surely not ! FvdP

I did not use the phrase "regime of rape and murder" either. That must've been an earlier writer.

Indeed, it was an earlier writer. FvdP
172, Play nice, you don't need to blast anyone getting in your way. Be more friendly. Kt2

You have a great patience with 172 you might be elligible for Wikipedia saithood.

I removed the link because it was not displaying the DC part for some reason that I could not understand since when I looked at in in edit it seemed right. So, I took it off knowing that someone else would put it back and make it display correctly. Indeed you did that and I do not see any differnce in what you have and what I originally had, but it is showing correctly so that is the important part. --Qaz

Wow, strange ! Ah but I understand. I had put Washington first then quickly corrected to Washington, DC. You probably saw the display with Washington and got the revised Washington, DC in the edit window. No need for a ghost in the machine to explain that effect... --FvdP

The discussion about the naming of the articles on bilingual belgian municipalities has moved to talk:Brussels (and might move again in the future...)

You used "chirurgy" when you diminished my spoiler entry on The_Matrix_Reloaded. What does this word mean? BF

An embarassing mistake of mine ;-) now corrected in the article (but you may want to correct that correction). I was too optimistic in transposing french words into english. (And sorry for answering/correcting late, I have been on holidays.) --FvdP 17:28 14 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Hi - re the IP user you asked to stop SHOUTING :-) I'm afraid it is a forlorn hope. This individual has been shouting since the day they came on. They also have a unique edit style, which is to ignore everyone else's work and revert specified pages back to their old version, a version that breaks all the guidelines in terms of layout, structure, spelling, NPOV, etc. I presumed at the start that this individual just didn't know what they were doing, and spent weeks fruitlessly pointing out to be careful not to break links, telling them how to do them correctly, explaining NPOV again and again, etc. On Eamon de Valera for two months under a series of identities and plenty of shouting this user has systematically been POVing the article and deliberately breaking links; turning Sinead Bean de Valera into Sinead Bean de Valera, (when specifically told that the latter links to nothing!) turning Cathal Brugha into Cathal Brugha, born Charles Burgess etc. Made up quotes are added in, along with some POV stuff that is so wrong it is funny.

After weeks of thinking this was just someone who didn't realise how to do things and having spent time patiently telling them over and over and over again about how to use links, spellings, NPOV I came to the conclusion that this user is simply going to that page to vandalise it, each time reverting to an old version, their old version with all the broken links, in the process wiping out weeks of work by everyone else every time. Having warned them that continuing to do this would be interpreted as vandalism and they would be blocked, they have continued to do so. So tonight I blocked them.

They have done edits elsewhere. I don't know anything about the accuracy of the edits, but if Eamon de Valera is any clue, every word they write needs to be double-checked. And every quote proven to exist. But they will be back under a new identity, with more SHOUTING, attacks on people and breaking links and reverting articles. The one good thing about their revertions on de Valera is that they always break the same links, so no matter what identity they use, it is immediately obvious who they are. Oh the joys of wiki. :-( FearÉIREANN 02:23 19 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Bonsoir,

217.226.214.120: added spurious links in german to [Jehovah witnesses](?) and bible on several Wikepedias. For a list of links to his contributions see w:fr:Discussion Utilisateur:FvdP. --FvdP 22:14, 28 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I wanted to say thanks again for fixing the haceks in the Sechter article I wrote. Also, I want to thank you for an idea I got from your user page. I saw that you have a link to recent changes in mathematics, so I decided to add a link to recent changes in classical music to my user page. -- Del_arte

I meant that the IP blocks were owned by companies from those countries. First of all, they are all European. Second of all, spammers and people who have such dynamic ip adresses don't usually own American or British (etc.) IP adresses, they are usually minor (no offense) European countries. Besides, don't Sweeden and Dutch have languages from the same branch of the language tree? Third of all, even though I'm hailing from the US, I'm Russian, thank you very much! Ilyanep 23:41, 27 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Well, following your point. Any person can find a way to use any IP, just has to hack into it. I could be German for all anyone knows. But...aww...whatever. It doesn't matter, it is obvious that they are probably the same. I'm just nicely going to count to ten (...) then stop this...Sorry if I caused you any Emotional Distress.
