Steven Stamkos (born February 7, 1990 in Scarborough, Ontario) is a Canadian ice hockey player for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Stamkos was the first overall pick in the 2006 OHL entry draft, from the Markham Waxers of the OMHA.[1] Stamkos currently resides in Unionville, Ontario.[2] Stamkos became a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 20, 2008 after being the first overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, following the team's heavy promotion of him via their "Seen Stamkos?" website.[3] He is a Canadian of ethnic Macedonian[2] and Scottish origin.
