Urban Dead is a browser-based, grid-mapped multi-player game where the protagonists take the role of either a survivor or victim of a zombie outbreak in a quarantined city centre.

Game basics

The game's premise is a Zombie infestation in the fictional town of Multon. Players may choose to play as survivors of the outbreak, trying to avoid becoming part of the infestation, or as a Zombie with the aim of killing the survivors.

Action is based on a grid-map with locations represented by squares on the grid. Action points are provided for players to utilise in order to interact with the map. Actions include moving, attacking Zombies or Survivors, using items, speaking to other players in the same location, healing other players, or constructing barricades.

Players are provided with a certain number of Hit Points. Once these reach zero, the player has died and will become a Zombie. It is possible for Zombies to return to being Survivors through the Survivor revivification skill.

Experience points are provided for the successful completion of actions. These experience points translate into additional levels and the option to acquire new skills.
