The WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship was a short-lived title created in 2001 right before World Championship Wrestling was sold to Vince McMahon.

History

The Cruiserweight division in WCW was always strong and WCW stocked up on good cruiserweights in early 2001. With the amount of cruiserweights signed, they decided to create a tag team title for the division in February 2001.

They started a tournament for the titles on February 26, 2001 with the finals on WCW's final PPV, Greed, on March 18, 2001. All of the matches were on WCW Monday Nitro.

Among the teams in the tournament for the title were A.J. Styles & Frank Paris, Yun Yang & Kaz Hayashi, Jason Jett & Scotty O, Jason Lee & Johnny Swinger, Evan Karagias & Shannon Moore, Mike Sanders & Kwee Wee, Rey Misterio, Jr. & Billy Kidman and the winners, Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper.

The title had a lot of promise but the World Wrestling Federation scrapped it upon the purchase of WCW.
