Puntagorda (first part, Spanish for point) is a municipality in the Canary Islands in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is situated on the northwestern coast of the island of La Palma. Puntagorda is linked with the highway that encircles the whole island and is located northwest of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and NW of the Las Palmas Airport.
The population is 1,708 (ISTAC, 2004), its density is 54.91/km² and the area is 31.1 km²/3,110 ha. The elevation is 600 m
Farmlands dominate the westthern and the central parts as well as the coastline, forests dominate the eastern part as well as grasslands, mountains and the Caldera de Taburiente to the east,. The majority of the population are rural.
