Start here: Karl Marx.

Changing "scores of contributors" to "Untold numbers"

I would have gone for "countless legions" myself. --Brion
I would estimate the number of people (by unique IP address) who have ever made an edit to Wikipedia of any use to be something like 5000-10000. Given that a legion is about 5000 men, that would mean saying "one or two legions". Doesn't sound quite as good! And most of those would have just made a single minor edit.
Seriously, I think we should avoid giving the impression that there are thousands upon thousands of contributors to Wikipedia, when in reality the number who actually write useful articles and make a serious number of edits are in the middle hundreds (which is still a lot). It would raise expectations too high, and make it look like the Wikipedia community has less potential for growth than it really has. Enchanter
