Paducah Tilghman High School is a public secondary school in Paducah, Kentucky, and is the only high school of the Paducah Independent School District.

In recent years, Tilghman has garnered notoriety for its championship track team and highly competitive football squad.

Sports

Paducah Tilghman High School participates in 12 sports. They are a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.


Football

The Blue Tornado Football team plays it's games at McRight Field (capacity, 8500), on the Tilghman campus. The team plays in Class AAA, Region 3, District 1. Randy Wyatt has taken over the reigns as head football coach for the 2008 season. He had been an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach in previous years.

PTHS has won state titles in 1973, 1980, and 1985, with runner-up finishes in 1987-1989, and 1992. The football program has produced two Mr.Football players, Kurt Barber, and Billy Jack Haskins.

During the 2007 season, Tilghman won it's 700th football game, beating Webster County 49-21 to become just the fourth team in Kentucky to do so. It now has a total of 702 wins total entering the 2008 season.

Track

The Boys track team has won 8 straight AA Track & Field state titles under the leadership of Randy Wyatt and the Girls track team had won 8 straight AA Track & Field state titles under Cecil Ward. The girls team finished 2nd in the 2008 State Track Finals, while the boys continued their streak. The boys team currently has won a total of 27 state track titles, one behind Louisville Male (3A) for the state record. The girls team currently has won a total of 14 state track titles, a state record.

The boys team also holds individual state records in Class AA in the following events:
