This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Cursive (talk | contribs) at 01:09, 11 September 2005 (remove TOC right - it can easily be missed and doesn't serve any purpose being on the right - it looks better now). NPOV

I guess "best" is such a subjetive point of view. I really don´t care about football, I mean soccer, but if I read "best" on sports, your article will not reflect a serious p.o.v., and I´m not the only one...--Edgar

I´ve added a third club, the Rayo Vallecano from Vallecas. Vallecas used to be a village a century ago, but now it´s become Madrid.--Edgar

Is Vallecas in the first division? That's what I said, at least -- I thought they were second division. JHK

Rayo Vallecano is now playing in the First Division, whereas Atlético de Madrid isn´t. Rayo vallecano first ascent to 1st Division took place in 1976 and they have been jumping from one division to another since then. Atlético de Madrid went into the 2nd division two years ago, and they are still there. At first, Atlético de Madrid named it "A season in Hell" (after Rimbaud's book), but it seems it's going to take longer to go back to 1st division. Some Rayo Vallecano stats:
First ascent to First Division: 1976-1977 season.
Rayo Vallecano got 1st Division leadership for four days: 1999-2000 season.
Uefa cup: 1 Participation
1st division: 10 seasons
2nd division: 30 seasons
2nd division "B": 1 season
3rd division: 11 seasons
1st regional: 7 seasons
2nd regional: 3 seasons
Labour federation: 7 seasons
Unofficial: 5 seasons
Right now (February 2002) is almost at the end of 1st division table, ranked No. 18 (out of 20).
I hope you find it useful--Edgar

Non NPOV

I have removed this below, because I think that the former paragraph was somewhat not NPV:

The president of spain takes money from the people of the country to give it to that football club,he's just a cheater

It is true that the perception of many other Spanish clubs is that the successive Spanish governments have cheated, some way or other, sportively or economically, in favour of Real Madrid, though. (e.g. the recent condonation of gigantic debts by a questionable requalification of real state properties).

Flags

What does it mean by
  • Roberto Carlos having both Brazilian & Spanish flags in front of his name
  • Santiago Solari having Argentinian & spanish flags
Shreshth91 00:30 30 Jun
I'd imagine it would be dual nationality (carlos has been playing for el real - thus living in Spain - long enough to become a naturalised spaniard, i'd guess)
I - amazingly - am not playing Tardis Tennis at the moment. 29 June 2005 20:10 (UTC)
It's too confusing, IMO. Having just one flag is enough. Internazionale#Current first team squad
I think it's not very confusing. It's useful to recognise which non-EU players have EU-status already. Just plz remove Spanish flag from Ronaldo; he doesnt have Spanish nationlity yet! --Avia 04:10, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please revert back to a decent version

This page was seriously vandalised, but I don't have the time to revert now.

Best XI POV

Isn't a 'Best XI' always going to be subjective and not present a neutral point of view? Cursive 20:51, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Should it be called Supposed XI Starting LineUp? Avia 01:21, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is still not NPOV. Apart from AC Milan (where I've similarly removed the section) no other clubs have it in their pages, and it's probably not necessary. I am sorry though that it does not seem to fit in NPOV, as whoever put it in clearly put in quite a lot of work to get the layout etc right. Cursive 01:49, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it really is NPOV. I mean, you don't even have Raul in that starting squad and aside that he is the captain he is gonna be without question nearly always at the starting squad this season. I think the squad in the page tries to fit in all the new players, like Baptista or Robinho, when we still don't know if they'll be good players at Real (remember, not all good players are good players for Real), and therefore if they'll have many minutes and play at startup. I think the squad at the page reflects more a fancy of whoever did it for that squad to be the starting squad, thus being subjective.
I'm removing this again. I cannot see how a Best XI or even a Supposed XI or anything which proports to represent something of this ilk can represent a neutral point of view. FC Barcelona has a graphic which has the most common XI used in the 2004/5 season, which is perfectly fine as it is clearly not NPOV and verifiable (not that I have verified it though), but a Best XI cannot be anything other than someones point of view. Cursive 23:56, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Even a proposed XI has its problems (who is proposing it?) - it's just someone's opinion. Why not change it to Starting Lineup against X - the season has started and no-one can argue about the lineup used against eg. Alaves. Cursive 12:26, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It may be changed to Starting LineUp in Recent Match. Avia 03:12, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
