The true-believer syndrome is an irrational belief in the paranormal. Someone who suffers from this cognitive disorder continues to believe in paranormal explanation for certain phenomena or events even after they have been confronted with abundant evidence that the phenomena have a natural cause. It is not a disorder that is accepted or treated by psychiatrists because it doesn't endanger the normal functioning of a person.
