Autocracy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Mrwojo (talk | contribs) at 06:20, 11 January 2004 (how "oligarchy" relates rather than merely "see also"; +stub note). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Autocracy is a form of government where absolute power is held by a single individual. The term can also refer to a country that is ruled in this manner. In comparison, an oligarchy is a form of government where power is held by multiple people (yet still a small segment of society).
