Many thanks to our founder User:Jimbo Wales

I love the oppurtunity to contribute to Wikipedia!

As a new user, July 2005,

I am truely grateful, inspired, and encouraged by User:RHaworth.

Roger, has taken much of his time to help me.

There should be more people like Roger. Much Thanks.

He is a mentor

That is, if we don't globally run out of energy beforehand.

Now is the time to be innovative , for time is running out. The amish will survive!

(Life's work) and background:

Born in 1954 in a small anthracite coal mining town in Northeastern Pennsylvania called Pottsville, Pennsylvania in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania .

I moved out of the hard coal anthracite Coal Region in 1974. Population in the area had declined over decades due to lack of demand for coal and most steel mills have closed down. This area in the Appalachian Mountains really is in a poverty state. In the 1970's, I moved sixty miles (100 km) south to the fertile area known as amish or Pennsylvania Dutch country. The area in Pennsylvania is located in Lancaster County I attended Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in the city of Lancaster at which time I got my degree.

After graduating post secondary school, I moved closer to the city of Philadelphia to work for a subsidiary of SAIC , Syntonic , Third party maintenance for the Pennsylvania Turnpike. I became heavily involved with Electromechanical Relay logic, as these Electronic toll collection and recording machines were punched card tickets, one of the first Machines IBM put in use. These toll consoles and back room money recorders consisted of basic electrical and Electro mechanical logic schemes, as solid state began to take it's course.

Also at the time, 1979, in the United States, Electronic Supermarket scanning systems were replacing the Electromechanical cash registers in the US supermarkets. I accepted a Field engineering position with National Semiconductor successfully installing over 300 stores on the east coast with scanners and the related *Datachecker Mini Computers. Interesting enough the systems , I truthfully believe, helped pioneer future technology of today, such as electronic commuunication and the Universal Product Codes, still in use today.

I moved on with my career and worked field engineering on the East coast for Varian Associates, see Klystron tube ,W.W. Hansenway, Palo Alto, California, performing technical engineering support and services on Ion Implanters to customers as: (Bell Labs) Murray Hill, NJ, (Western Electric) in Allentown and Reading , IBM Government Systems division in Manassas Virginia, National Security Agency (NSA) in Maryland, General Electric in Maryland, RCA in Princeton, NJ, and traveled to Silicon Valley , to service Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation. Did I mention General Instruments in Tempe, Arizona and National Semiconductor in Silicon Valley ?

At the time I witnessed the location of where the transistor , had been invented, Bell Labs, Murray Hill, New Jersey and where it was put into production: Western Electric in Allentown It was most interesting to service and see these facilities at the time. I also witnessed the switch of Data bits using Binary, to Octal, to Hexadecimal, and the evolution of the Integrated Circuit.

In 1984 I relocated to Silicon Valley California to work for Intel on Semiconductor manufacturing equipment called ion implanters.

I left Intel to work for SLAC/ DOE/ Stanford University and ended up working at SLAC in the Control engineering department for seventeen years. SLAC is the longest of all particle accelerators in the world.

The accelerator is an Electron Positron accelerator. The accelerator is run by Stanford University for the DOE.

Upon needing a change, which we all need in time, I relocated to the new and exciting SNS project in June of 2001. Moving is a real pain, especially 2600 miles (4200 km).
