Plot

Dan's life changed one day when random cards fell out of the sky. Some friends of his invented a game called Bakugan with those cards. Together with his friends Runo, Marucho, Julie, Shun, Alice and Joe the Bakugan Battle Brawlers are formed as they end up fighting for the fate of Destroya against Masquerade, Hal-G, and the Bakugan Naga.

Characters

Main characters

  • Dan Kuso: Dan is a 12 year old boy who loves Bakugun and spend all his time playing it. His Guardian Bakugan is Pyrus Dragonoid (nicknamed Drago) who is always telling him the right thing to do. Close to the end of the series, he evolves into Pyrus Delta Dragonoid and defeats Masquerade, freeing him from Alice's body. He is ranked the number one Bakugan player in the world. At the end of the season finale, he is seen going on a date with Runo to the movies.
  • Runo Misaki: At the age of 12, Runo is not your typical pre-teen girl. Runo is a tomboy through and through who loves playing Bakugan with people that have skills. Like Dan, she has a short temper and gets angry when she loses a battle. Runo has a crush on Dan but she would not admit it (until episode 32) and is jealous of Julie taking Dan's attention. In battle, she uses light attributes. At the end of the series, Runo is seen with Dan on a date going to the movies. She and Alice have a big sister-little sister relationship. Her Guardian Bakugan is the Haos-attribute Tigrerra.
  • Marucho Marokuro: He is a wealthy, 11-year old, blond-haired boy with glasses. He is caring, strong at heart, polite, generous, and likes to eat lots of soup. He used to be extremely obedient to his parents out of fear he might be eaten, that changed when he met the Brawlers. He now has no regrets for the past, realizing that he only wanted to make his parents happy. His Guardian Bakugan are the Aquos-attribute Preyas and the Haos Angelo/Pyrus Diablo Preyas. Preyus was sent to the Doom Dimension in Marucho's battle with Klaus Van Hertzon. Later Klaus shows up with Preyus. Dan and Runo find a way to get Preyus back through defeating him in battle. Preyas evolves into a two-sided Bakugan called Preyas Angelo and Preyas Diablo. Unlike the other Bakugan however, Preyas multiplies when he evolves, so Marucho got to keep the old Preyas.
  • Julie Makimoto: She lives in Bakugan Valley. She's 12 years old and sort of upbeat from the rest of the Battle Brawlers and tries to stay happy even when the worst has happened (for example, when Billy ended up under the control of Masquerade), her acting happy after something terrible happened is generally just to cover up her real feelings. Julie can also forget things easily, proving that she is a little scatterbrained at times. She is always up and happy with a positive attitude. At the beginning of the series, she is shown to have a crush on Dan (which led to some arguments with a jealous Runo), but later, she likes Billy and accepts a date offer from him. Julie has a sister named Daisy who has bested her in everything since she was a child. Her Guardian Bakugan is Subterra-attribute Gorem.
  • Shun Kazami: He is a strong, silent, cool type 13-year-old. He was the 1st ranked Bakugan player until Masquerade came then he moved down to 6th place then to 3rd place. He created the rules and regulations of Bakugan with Dan and is a master of the game, and also is Dan's childhood friend. Shun is a loner, a boy of very few words, yet is willing to help his friends at every turn. He approaches the game like a ninja, being very calculating. He lives with his grandfather (who used to be a famous ninja warrior) who once expected Shun to follow in his footsteps instead of playing Bakugan. His Guardian Bakugan is the Ventus-attribute Skyress whom Shun received from his comatose mother.
  • Alice Gehabich (Masquerade): She is a 13-year-old girl from Moscow who didn't play Bakugan until her identity of Masquerade had disappeared from her body. Upon his departure, Masquerade left her the Darkus-attribute Hydranoid. Michael is her grandfather, but after learning that her grandfather became Hal-G and works with Naga, she constantly worried about him. Alice usually just gives advice to the brawlers, instead of battling. Alice and Marucho are the stratigest of the brawlers. Unlike Marucho, Alice gives her strategies to the brawlers. During season 2 she left the Brawlers after finding out that she was Masquerade but later returns in time to save Dan and Drago. Alice has a special ability to see the G's of an Bakugan on the field. Since Masquerade was 1st rank then second that means Alice was 2nd rank since she was Masquerade. Her Guardian Bakugan is Darkus-attribute Hydranoid which she inherited from Masquerade after he left her body. She appears to have a crush on Shun.
  • Masquerade (Alice): The number one ranked Bakugan player in the world. His goal is to send all Bakugan to the Doom Dimension (the most feared place by all Bakugan) with his Doom Card, so he may evolve his Hydranoid and have the Ultimate Bakugan.. He is revealed to be Alice in episode 38 to 39. Masquerade came to be when negative energy changed Alice and her grandfather. Alice's Grandfather was also affected by the negative energy and he was changed into Hal-G. He battles with Dan in episode 38 and loses. Masquerade disappears from Alice's body after assisting Dan in Vestroia. Masquerade's Guardian Bakugan was Reaper before he sent it to the Doom Dimension and replaced him with Hydranoid. Before he disappears completely, he gives Alice his Guardian Bakugan Hydranoid.
  • Joe Brown: He is 18-year-old also known as "Webmaster Joe" who created the Bakugan website. The Brawlers first thought that Joe was working with Masquerade, but it turns out that Joe sent a message to all of the Bakugan Brawlers in the chat room about Masquerade and becomes one of the Brawlers. He lives with his mother and soon moves to the Brawlers' neighborhood. Chan Lee seems to have a crush on Joe, whose feelings are revealed in the last episode. His Guardian Bakugan is Wayvern who used to date Drago.
  • Hal-G: The loyal servant of Naga and Alice's grandfather. He used to be a famous scientist named Michael, who mysteriously disappeared. He once studied Vestroia until an accident happened, and negative energy filled into his lab, causing him to turn into Hal-G. Alice went to his lab for a visit, and the negative energy turned her into Masquerade. Hal-G created a dimension transporter. His Guardian Bakugan is his boss, Naga.

Recurring Characters

  • Klaus Van Hertzon: A Bakugan player. He was the 2nd place Bakugan Brawler in the world when he and the other top Bakugan Brawlers were placed under the control of Masquerade. It is said that he is wealthier than Marucho since Klaus lives in a castle, but Marucho's Preyas thinks his castle is a load of junk. Klaus sent Marucho's Preyas to the Doom Dimension, but Preyas somehow returns in Klaus' possession. Later when he, Chan-Lee, and Julio were defeated by Dan, Runo, and Marucho, he gave Marucho's Preyas back and moved down to 4th place after he was defeated by Masquerade. For most of the second season he does not feature until closer to the end when Alice stumbles across his castle where she confesses that she was Masquerade. Immediately, he challenges her to a battle at first for revenge but in the end to remind her why she was a Brawler in the first place. In episode 50, Joe asks him if he had a crush on Alice but he replies that unlike Joe, he is a true gentleman. His Guardian Bakugan is the Aquos attributed Sirenoid who ended up in the Doom Dimension, but later returns.
  • Chan-Lee: The 3rd Ranked Bakugan Brawler in the world who ended up under the control of Masquerade. She alongside Klaus, and Julio battled Dan, Marucho, and Runo, but they were defeated. She later moves down to 5th place after she was defeated by Masquerade. She has a crush on Joe and at the end of the second series when Dan is on his date with Runo, her and Joe can be seen together in the background. Her Guardian Bakugan is the Pyrus attributed Fortress who ended up in the Doom Dimension, but later came back somehow.
  • Julio Santana: The 4th Ranked Bakugan Brawler. He ended up under the control of Masquerade along with Billy, Komba, Chan Lee, and Klaus. He later moves down to 9th place after Masquerade defeated him. His Guardian Bakugan is the Haos attributed Tentaclear who ended up in the Doom Dimension, then came back somehow.

He then had a rematch with Shun and loses again, but after this, he tries to make Shun his teacher. He later moves down to 10th place after he was defeated by Masquerade. His Guardian Bakugan is the Ventus attribute Harpus who ended up in the Doom Dimension, but later comes back. Harpus seems to be annoyed by Shun's Skyress at first but get along after the both defeat one of Naga's most powerful guards.
  • Billy Gilbert: He is a childhood friend of Julie and 10th Ranked Bakugan Brawler in the world. He battled Julie and won but later on, he battled her again and lost. He then ended up under the control of Masquerade and lost two more times. He later moves down to 11th place after Masquerade defeated him. At the end of the series, he and Julie start going out. His Guardian Bakugan is the Subterra-attribute Cycloid who ended up in the Doom Dimension, then came back.

He finally battled Travis and won with Alice's help. During the battle, his Juggernoid connected to him and became his Guardian Bakugan. He later found that Alice had fainted in a bush. He took her to his treehouse and tried to nurse her until she disappeared. His Guardian Bakugan is the Aquos attributed Juggernoid.
