Syllable is a free software operating system for Intel x86 Pentium and compatible processors. Its purpose is to create an easy-to-use desktop operating-system for the home and business user. It was forked from the AtheOS operating system in July 2002.

It has a native web browser called ABrowse.

Features include:

  • 64 bit native AtheOS journaled file-system
  • C++ orientated API
  • Graphical desktop environment on a native gui
  • Mostly POSIX compliant
  • SMP (multiple processor) support

The latest version is 0.5.1
