Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves is the third game in the Sly Cooper franchise, which is scheduled for release September 27, 2005. While little information was initially available about the game, information started to come out in April of 2005, and more became available as the E3 Expo neared.

Several interesting (and sometimes unexpected) pieces of information have emerged regarding the game:

Firstly, Inspector Carmelita Fox will be a playable character (as requested by the game's fanbase). We have no evidence, however, that Carmelita is joining Sly's gang.

Secondly, there will be at least one new member of Sly's gang - a shaman named The Guru. Guru is a koala with magical powers - he will apparently be able to hide from enemies by transforming into objects like bushes, and possess enemies by jumping on their heads from behind. Dimitri from Sly Cooper 2 will also become a playable member of the gang, as will the Panda King from the original.

Thirdly, the game will contain 3-D sections. 3-D glasses will apparently be distributed with each copy of the game, and will be needed for certain parts of the game. This development was completely unexpected, and at first there was much speculation as to how it would work. However, Sucker Punch revealed at E3 that rather than being fully integrated into the gameplay, it would be an optional extra - all levels are playable in 2D. Some levels will be playable in 3-D from the beginning, while other levels will require the 3-D feature to be unlocked. Apparently there will be some objects in the levels only visible when playing in 3-D. According to screenshots, the 3-D effect is focused upon certain objects in the background rather than the characters themselves. This minimises the necessary blue/red separation, making it easier to watch someone playing in 3-D without a set of 3-D glasses.

Fourthly, an offline multiplayer mode will be introduced, which will apparently feature several modes of play - including "Cops and Robbers" and "Dogfighting".

Playable Characters

  • Sly Cooper- Since his escape from Carmelita's helicopter, Sly has undergone some changes. He is now a master of disguise, able to become any one of a variety of identies. He is also now attempting to penetrate the Cooper Vault, a secret storehouse that contains all the loot the Cooper Clan has stolen over the years. Upon finding the island that McSweeny tells Sly about, Sly finds that the island is already owned by a Dr. M, and that it would be nearly impossible to enter. So Sly starts searching for theives (Dimitri the Lounge Lizard, Guru the Shaman, Panda King etc.) that will help him break into Dr. M's island.
  • Bentley the Turtle- Bentley is worse for wear from his participation in the battle with Clockwerk. Now crippled, Bentley is confined to a wheelchair. However, he's not about to be stopped, and has equipped the chair with multiple features to stay in action.
  • Murray the Hippo- Murray suffered psychologically from the Klaww Gang ordeal. Blaming himself for Bentley's injuries, he left the team and took up a life of non-violence and solace, studying under The Guru. However, Sly and Bentley's recruitment of a new Band of Thieves quickly pulls him back into the action.
  • Inspector Carmelita Fox (Not on Sly's team) but later helps the team out. Has a shock pistol and very athletic with very high jumping skills. Can perform a roundhouse kick.
  • The Guru (The Shaman)- A shaman from Australia, known as "Guru of the Stone". Murray goes to him as his student. Guru has magical abilities like transforming into a bush, rock, or sticks and possessing other people. Guru speaks mumbo jumbo, but everybody seems to understand him.(Outback,Holland,China, and Cooper Island.)
  • Dimitri the Lounge Lizard- Former member of the Klaww Gang, Dimitri became a dance instructor on a cruise after the fall of the Klaww Gang. Later, Dimitri becomes a free agent and is recruited by the Cooper Gang as a frogman (who does all the water jobs).(Venice,Holland, and Cooper Island.)
  • Panda King- Former member of the Fiendish Five. A demolitions expert and master of explosives and fireworks. He was defeated by Sly. Panda King was recruited by Sly (Most likely in China.)to help overthrow Dr. M's Fortress.
  • Penelope- A female mouse mechanic. She possesses a RC Biplane, like Bentley's RC Chopper. (Rumor has it, that Bentley has a crush on her).(Good chance she will be recriuted in Holland.)

Bosses (section currently incomplete)

  • Big Dingo (regular guard possessed by Bad Spirit Mask) (Outback)
  • "The Prince" the Rooster (China, Enchanted Forest)
  • Octavio the Lion (Venice)
  • Dr. M the Baboon-Crazy primate also attempting to get in the cooper family vault. (Cooper Island)(Rumored to be the brains of Sly's dad's gang.)
  • Julio the Scorpion (desert in Mexico.)
  • Muggshot the Bulldog (Holland).
  • Pirate boss (Caribbean)
