Atomic Train is a 1999 action movie about an accidental nuclear explosion destroying the city of Denver. It was originally broadcast on television as a two-part miniseries.
A man requests disposal of a Russian nuclear bomb and loads it on a train. However, the courier delivering the bomb to the disposal yard refuses to get a permit for this application based on financial greed and secretly loads the weapon on the train. Unfortunately, the brakes on the train are defective, leading to a collision when another train rear-ends the vehicle.
Discovering the now highly unstable bomb on-board, firefighters struggle to put out the fire at the crash site but fail when a misintrepretation of a radio call to a water bombing helicopter leads it to dump its load onto the wreck causing the nuclear bomb to explode.
