Most Wanted is Hilary Duff's third album, and her first "Greatest Hits"/"Best Of" compilation album. In addition to her previous songs, it features four new tracks, which were co-written and co-produced by Joel Madden, lead vocalist for Good Charlotte and Duff's current boyfriend as of July 2005. His brother, Benji Madden, also contributed to the album, as did Goldfinger's John Feldman.

It was released on August 16, 2005 in the United States and Canada, and is available in both standard and bonus versions. The standard version includes her famous hits, and three new songs, including first single "Wake Up". The bonus version, also known as the Collector's Edition, includes four new songs, bonus packaging, and bonus material.

In its first week, the album sold 208,000 copies and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart; this debut marks Hilary's first #1 debut. In its second week, it sold 101,000 copies and stayed at #1 for a second week. In it's third week Most Wanted plunged down to #8 selling 77,000.
